Claire Foy's Lisbeth Salander Faces Her Past In This New THE GIRL IN THE SPIDER'S WEB Trailer

A brand new trailer for director Fede Alvarez's upcoming adaptation of David Lagercrantz's The Girl in the Spider's Web is now online, and it gives fans a much better idea of what to expect from the plot.

New domestic and international trailers for The Girl in the Spider's Web are now online. The first may actually give a bit too much away, so if you'd rather get an idea of the plot without spoiling it altogether, the second is the way to go.

Claire Foy (The Crown, First Man) steps into the role of Lisbeth Salander carrying a lot of pressure, as she's following critically acclaimed turns from both Noomi Rapace and Rooney Mara. Likewise, the film itself will draw inevitable comparisons to David Fincher's English language remake of The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo.

Check out the trailers below along with a new poster, and let us know how you think Spider's Web will match up in the comments.

While I wish Fincher and the original cast could have returned, I am looking forward to this movie.

@Oberlin4Prez - Eh, that movie was a big disappointment. What makes the books so compelling is the immense character development and the movie had none.

@Oberlin4Prez - The original Swedish trilogy with Noomi Rapace was really good, especially the first one.

It looks bad. Like, we go from Daniel Craig to... who was that dude? Also, Foy seems miscast. I don't have high hopes.

Fede Alvarez is a very promising director so it should be a good movie I hope! Not sure about the actor who replace Graig but I like the rest for now

I mean without Fincher and the rest of the cast not returning for another run, I have little desire to see this. If I didn't have A-List, I would probably just wait for it to hit redbox.

I miss Fincher already. And Rooney. But I like Fede Alvarez.

Wish Foy would have been Lisbeth in Fincher’s film. She’s killing it. Mara didn’t do it for me. This looks ok, not great. I hope she can keep ge accent up. Her American accent in Unsane is just so...so bad.

I won't watch it, the original trilogy was awesome

No Rooney, no Fincher, no watch.

Clearly they wanted Dan Stevens for the Daniel Craig part and he said no, so they just got the next best thing they could find.

I personally liked Rapace the best for the role but only really enjoyed the first film of the trilogy. I will probably check this out at some point but doubtfully in the theater.
