DEADPOOL 2 Director Eyed To Take The Helm Of The Rock's Planned FAST & FURIOUS Spinoff

Following the debut of the first full-length trailer for Deadpool 2/The Untitled Deadpool Sequel, all the signs are pointing to the movie being something very special indeed. John Wick co-director David Leitch took over from Tim Miller and he may have already lined up a new gig in the form of the Fast & Furious spinoff which looks set to revolve around Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham's characters.

Those two have shown that they have a great deal of chemistry as Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw, so it's easy to see why Universal is interested in moving forward with this project before Fast & Furious 9.

Chris Morgan penned the screenplay for the spinoff and it makes sense for Leitch to be hired here; after all, he's worked with Statham four times in the past (he served as a fight designer and second unit director on The Mechanic) and Deadpool 2 should be a hit. Seeing the filmmaker bring his unique brand of action to a movie revolving around The Rock and Statham would be an awful lot of fun.

I wonder if The Rock will be in Furious 9. He was basically a cameo in 7 and had problems with a cast member in 8.

I can picture it now. A fast and furious movie starring the rock is in theaters, it looks like garbage. I don’t see it. Two weeks later, and everyone forgets it ever existed.

You mean hes not coming back to do deadpool 3? For some reason I think Reynolds ego will possess him to direct.

Cool, he and Statham certainly had a good relationship in the last film. Hope they bring Luke Evans in for this one as well.

There was a script I read a few years ago called Bullet Run. It was about a former FBI agent turned private security bodyguard/driver and his CIA operative wife who hires him and his team to capture the African warlord who killed their daughter.

The team is made up of a former British SAS operator, a tough Latina motorbike rider, a brash young sniper/surfer, a wise mechanic and a girl-next-door wunderkind behind a steering wheel.

I genuinely think the writer had watched the F&F films and decided to do his own version. And I'm not gonna lie, I think they should just use the Bullet Run script because it was actually pretty decent.
