Lionsgate's The Hunger Games has been cleaning up at the box office. The film is expect to cross over the $300 million mark domestically this weekend. With all this money pouring into the film, many fans were very upset yesterday to see The Playlist report that Gary Ross had left the franchise, but according to Deadline's sources those reports are not accurate.

Despite reports that have spread like wildfire on showbiz websites, we hear from multiple sources close to Catching Fire that director Gary Ross has not formally withdrawn from The Hunger Games sequel. Ross is off on a family vacation and couldn’t be reached, but these internet reports that described his withdrawal as definitive are simply not accurate.

The Hunger Games hits theaters on March 23rd, 2012. The film stars: Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Wes Bentley, Toby Jones, Alexander Ludwig, Isabelle Fuhrman, Amandla Stenberg, Stanley Tucci, and Donald Sutherland
