BOX OFFICE: THE FATE OF THE FURIOUS Crosses $1 Billion Internationally

The Fate of The Furious made 3.3 million this weekend overseas and that meant it crossed $1 billion from its foreign box office alone! Its current international total now stands at $1.001 billion and is the sixth highest grossing film ever in foreign box office history. Avatar ($2.03 billion), Titanic ($1.53 billion), Furious 7 ($1.16 billion), Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($1.13 billion), Jurassic World ($1.02 billion), and then Fast 8 ($1.01 billion). This also means that its the second film of the Fast and Furious franchise to make $1 billion from the foreign box office. This is something that not even Star Wars, Harry Potter or Marvel has accomplished yet.

Add the domestic total to its foreign total and Fast 8 stands at a worldwide box office cume of $1.223 billion. That makes it the second highest grossing film of 2017 only after Disney's Beauty and the Beast ($1.232 billion). It is very likely to remain second until Star Wars: The Last Jedi comes out this December.

In China, the action film has grossed whopping $387.4 million (2.7 RMB) and is now the highest grossing foreign film there. Outside of the Middle Kingdom the top markets are Brazil ($41.6 million), the UK ($37.4 million), Mexico ($36.98 million) and Germany ($32.1 million).

It's the biggest franchise outside North America right now, bigger than Star Wars, Avengers, etc.

It's unbelievable.

this was the first F&F movie (going from part 4 to 8) that felt mediocre to me.

SPOILERS*********************************************************************
good action scene with remotely controlled vehicles and awesome shot with Vin and the chainsaw are just not enough.

the movie biggest mistakes was reusing the villains (movie stars) from previous movies and make them good guys now. it's highly illogical if you consider previous movies. not to mention all if forgiven at the end of the movie.

as for the other way around ... Vin was really good at playing the bad guy now. He and Michelle were the best part of this movie.

as for new villain ... hope i won't see her in next part. making the hacker main villain is not a good idea since all she can do is talking and giving commands.

oh ... and please stop it with thi weird The Rock/Statham comedic scenes. it was badly edited, i had same problem with The Expendables part 1. it looks like they were making this jokes on set and tried to leave the best ones for the final cut. they are so unnatural.

yeah ... i think that's it.

Sucked it up and went to see this. Was actually a good time and entertaining. Going in you expect it to be nonsense and stupid, but I enjoyed it....especially Statham and The Rock's chemistry, so cheesy yet good lol. I loved this franchise being a huge car buff, so that is still there....but miss the street racing aspect, but understand they're older now so the transition to a heist film is not too bad. The zombie cars scene in NYC was actually pretty cool as well.

Still think they should have ended with Paul's death, but there were some good nods to him.

It made a billion internationally and yet about a 1/4th of that domestically. Has a movies numbers been that lopsided before?
