Welcome to the Family, Brie Larson!
Vin Diesel, ace producer and star of Universal's blockbuster Fast & Furious franchise, announced late Saturday night that Academy Award-winner Brie Larson (Captain Marvel; The Marvels) has joined the cast of the upcoming tenth installment, in what sounds like an extremely pivotal role.
She joins a cast headlined by Diesel, with returning supporting players Michelle Rodriguez as Letty Ortiz, Tyrese Gibson as Roman Pearce, Ludacris as Tej Parker, Jordana Brewster as Mia Toretto, Sung Kang as Han Seoul-Oh, and Nathalie Emmanuel as Ramsey. While unconfirmed, Charlize Theron is also expected to return as Cipher, along with several other familiar faces from the entire saga.
Jason Momoa (Aquaman; Dune) and Daniela Melchior (The Suicide Squad; The Payback) are also on board, with Momoa reportedly playing a villain.
Plot details are currently unknown, but Justin Lin will return to helm Fast 10, which is expected to be the epic first half of a two-part finale. Expect more casting announcements in the coming weeks, especially with production expected to begin soon.
Fast & Furious 10 is slated to race into theaters on May 19, 2023; while Fast & Furious 11 is tentatively scheduled to arrive in February 2024.
