A little over two months ago,
it was reported that David Leitch of
Atomic Blonde and
Deadpool 2 was being eyed to direct the
Fast and Furious spin-off film which will be focusing on Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham‘s characters. Universal recently released an image onto Twitter officially confirming Leitch will be directing the film, as well as confirming the rumoured title:
Hobbs & Shaw.
Fast & Furious screenwriter Chris Morgan, who has penned six installments of the blockbuster series, including the most recent The Fate of the Furious, also turned in the spinoff script. The release date is set as July 26, 2019 - arriving in theaters before the ninth installment of its parent franchise.

Focusing on Johnson's US Diplomatic Security Agent Luke Hobbs forming an unlikely alliance with Statham's Deckard Shaw.
