Hobbs & Shaw was the first Fast & Furious spinoff, and a huge success for Universal Pictures after it grossed over $760.5 million at the global box office. A few weeks ago, star Dwayne Johnson confirmed that a sequel is in development, but with F9 pushed back a year, there's been no word on how that will impact these plans, especially after hints Hobbs could return in F10

During a live Instagram Q&A, the chiselled actor confirmed that screenwriter Chris Morgan is returning for Hobbs & Shaw 2, and teased new characters, "I think that you guys are gonna fall in love with."

"Chris Morgan, of course, will write again, Seven Bucks Productions will produce again," he started. "We created a lot of great characters, from Vanessa Kirby’s character to Idris Elba, and Eiza Gonzalez. And now in this next installment we have a few more surprises and great characters to create."

"Not characters that Hobbs can just kick the shit out of, because that’s boring, but characters I think that you guys are gonna fall in love with. Villains, anti-heroes, and heroes all across the board."

The mention of "villains" is intriguing, particularly after Hobbs and Shaw teased the mysterious leader of the sinister Eteon organization. That could be a familiar face from the past, but given the franchise's habit of attracting big name stars, it's likely that Johnson will enlist an A-Lister.
