F9: THE FAST SAGA Director Justin Lin Would Never Say Never To A Crossover With JURASSIC WORLD Franchise

The Fast & Furious franchise has taken us to a lot of crazy places in recent years, but could Universal Pictures one day combine the racing series with Jurassic World? Well, it's not off the table...

With F9: The Fast Saga set to take the Fast & Furious franchise into space, it's hard to imagine how much crazier this series can really get. The days of street racing being a high-stakes as things got are long gone, but where can these movies possibly go next after heading down a sci-fi route?

Well, a crossover with Universal Pictures' other big franchise, Jurassic World, is one option!

At the end of Fallen Kingdom, dinosaurs had been unleashed into our world, with the stage set for a third instalment that could see humans and prehistoric creatures once again sharing the planet. Colin Trevorrow is currently hard at work on that threequel, but it's easy enough to imagine the franchise heading down a post-apocalyptic route beyond that.

Who better than Dominic Toretto to save the day, eh?

"I’m all in!" F9 star Michelle Rodriguez responded when Collider asked about that possibility. "Once you reach a certain pinnacle, there’s nowhere to go, but to cross brand and merge. It’s what big corporations do with each other when they get too big. You just have to brand and merge with each other. The only thing standing in the way is lawyers and studios. Usually the brands that you’re trying to merge belong to different studios. But if it’s under the same umbrella, I don’t know. I’m just saying, it works."

Director Justin Lin then weighed in by saying, "I never say never to anything. Part of our philosophy is not to ever be boxed in or labeled. That’s all I will say."

It certainly sounds like the door is open to a crossover like this, and it would be pretty insane for F10 to end with a post-credits scene that sets the stage for some sort of car versus dinosaur mashup. It may sound far-fetched, but would it really surprise you at this point?
