Director Kevin Tancharoen has been doing a lot of updating of his Twitter this week, offering us a hand full of new photos from his upcoming 'Mortal Kombat' web-series.

Filming for Kevin's 'Mortal Kombat' web-series is currently underway in Vancouver.

"Written by Kevin Tancharoen, Aaron Helbing and Todd Helbing, and available online this spring from Warner Bros. Digital Distribution, the “Mortal Kombat” digital new media series is an anthology of multiple live action shorts. Each episode will provide never-before-revealed insights into characters featured in the upcoming videogame as well as the game’s universe…Fans will be able to delve deep into the history of the warriors they know and love including “Sub-Zero” and “Scorpion.”

People seem to be speculating that this first picture is of either Raiden, or Kano. When Kevin released the picture all he put was the caption "Who do you think this is?". I'm pretty sure it is Raiden, it looks like actor Ryan Robbins who is cast as Raiden

And he released this picture sometime yesterday but I decided to wait to post it. This picture had the caption "Friendship or fatality? Which do you prefer?"...

The first episode of the web-series will be online sometime this April

awesome, and I think this one maybe is Kano.
I dont think they would take a "young" actor to play an old character like Raiden.
Nice find!

Awesome, if it's a spine, you KNOW it's Sub-Zero ripping out someone's spine as his fatality!! Loved it in the game- Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks.

Oh and Raiden looks very, very odd. Maybe...more rough-edged this time around? ;P

Does anyone watch Sanctuary?That actor would be the last guy I'd think of to play Raiden.That guy's about 5'7.

I like Lambert as Raiden, but I liked Jeffrey Meek from Mortal Kombat Conquest more.He was tall and imposing and the actor was a black belt.He also played Shao Kahn.

Booooooo! Booooo! [frick]in! Boooooo! I was looking forward to this, since J White was in it but after looking at Reptile, Blanka, and now this weak Raiden, My hopes have went down, way down. Highlander as Raiden wasn't great, although I love him it, wasn't great. Has no one seem Big Trouble in Little China! 3 perfect! Perfect! Raidens. As he should be done.

I'm not really digging the direction of this. Wouldn't a "300" style adaptation be far more cool and faithful?

I'm guessing the spine picture is meant to be a nod at Sub-Zero. Why else would a spine be laying in the snow next to a snowman?

It says he is playing Raiden on several profile sites. I was thinking Kano too at first. I'm gonna watch these regardless of what some [female dog]y internet nerds have to say. It's MK. It has no story. It has as much of a story as Street Fighter.

@Vital,
I agree that i'll be watching it no matter what anyone tells me, but you're wrong saying theres no story. The Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter story arcs and character backgrounds are what make them amazing, as well as the actual gameplay and memorable characters.I've bought the last three Soul Calibur games and the only characters I can remember are Link and the Star Wars characters.
