In June of 1981 director Steven Spielberg and executive producer George Lucas introduced the world to Indiana Jones when the unforgettable Raiders of the Lost Ark debuted in theaters. Exploding to instant acclaim, the film has now been carefully restored, alongside remastered versions of the archaeologist’s other thrilling adventures—Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Prepare for excitement, adventure and snakes—why did it have to be snakes?—all with pristine picture and sound when INDIANA JONES: The Complete Adventures debuts on Blu-ray September 18, 2012 from Lucasfilm Ltd. and Paramount Home Media Distribution.

Supervised by director Steven Spielberg and renowned sound designer Ben Burtt, Raiders of the Lost Ark has been meticulously restored with careful attention to preserving the original look, sound and feel of the iconic film. The original negative was first scanned at 4K and then examined frame-by-frame so that any damage could be repaired.

The sound design was similarly preserved using Burtt’s original master mix, which had been archived and unused since 1981. New stereo surrounds were created using the original music tracks and original effects recorded in stereo but used previously only in mono. In addition, the sub bass was redone entirely up to modern specifications and care was taken to improve dialogue and correct small technical flaws to create the most complete and highest quality version of the sound possible while retaining the director’s vision. The result is an impeccable digital restoration that celebrates the film and its place in cinematic history.

The installments in the franchise have won a combined seven Academy Awards®. Relive every heart-pounding thrill like never before as all four films arrive together, for the first time presented in 1080p high definition with English 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio accompanied by a collection of documentaries, interviews, featurettes and new bonus features.

Will you be picking up Indiana Jones: The Complete Adventures this fall?

Do they come in singles? Because Crystal Skull is not allowed in my house.

Will they sell these separately so I don't have to even touch the 4th one?

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, can't wait to get this. I even love-ahem-like, i even like the last indian jones.

though last time they put all the movies in a boxset, they made it incomplete by releasing another movie a couple years later. hmmmmm..

oh god i love the internets reaction to Indiana Jones 4. Because apparently it's wrong to like 3 out of 4 movies in a series they act like little children crying that the evil bad movie hurt their childhood :'(

They might not break up the set, they didn't with Jurassic park when that hit bluray. I like the fourth one. I don't get all the hate

@the14thavenger

once i got passed the monkeys and aliens I found a lot to like. The critics reviews of the movie were solid, so i think the dislike for the movie is emotional more than anything. In fact, i think that's obvious.

The14thAvenger - 6/26/2012, 12:23 PM
And to be honest I can understand the criticism towards the swinging in the woods scene and other things, but I found the alien concept perfectlly acceptable. I mean c'mon, raiders=ancient box full of head melting spirits, doom=crazy cult man who can pull out hearts with his bare hands and crusade=a man who's lived for hundreds of years protecting the cup of Christ. That's all perfectly acceptable but god forbid aliens!!!!

So the fourth Indy's the worst, but that's still like saying it was the worst blow job you've received.

omg indy 4. if they do an indy 5, in theory, judging by their track record, 5 should be good cause 1 and 3 are.

They'll just make Indy 5 afew years after this, and then they'll release a new version.

I didn't hate the last Indy film, but I definitely see where the vitriol comes from. As humans people just don't like change. Had they been less showy with the whole alien thing and been more ambigous it would've been interesting

@Dedpool

I agree with you, my biggest gripe with the last one, however was the excessive use of unnecessary CGI. I love the originals for their use of practical effects. The final scene in Raiders is still one of my favorites as the heads melt and explode

I am Indyed out. I already own the DVD set. The 4th movie had parts that were ok but the movie was Lucased, taking a great idea and not letting it work. To me there were only two good films, Raiders and Crusade. Didn't like Temple or Crystal. Still Indiana Jones one of the best characters in the history of film, iconic.

@The14thAvenger

I completely agree!!!!!! The vine swinging was ridiculous, that is undebatable, but for the life of me I can't understand why everyone was so mad about the aliens!!! I thought it was handled EXCELLENTLY....

.....and to be honest, I didn't even mind the "nuke the fridge" scene, INDY has always had tongue-in-cheek moments like that.

I could not be a bigger Indy fan, but something has always bothered me about the DVDs and Spielberg's DVDs in general: The special features stink. Well, not stink, but could be so much better. He has yet to do a director's commentary on any DVD and there were no deleted scenes on any Indy DVD. The making-of on the DVDs were good, but could be greatly improved. Say what you want about stinky George, the Star Wars DVDs/blu-rays had commentary and some deleted scenes. Unless there are either or both of these things on the blu-ray, (which there won't be), I ain't buying 'em.

If they can release the first 3 in a box set or release them individually, I will buy it. As long as the set contains Kingdom of the Crystal Meth, I won't be buying it. Lucas was smoking something when he made the alien ship fly out of the pyramid.

Problem with aliens is it just doesnt seem like Indiana jones.. That's star wars.. Just doesn't seem to fit into the rest of the series. The cgi is out of place too....

I think crystal also suffers from actor of the month club by casting Shia laboof...

I was ok with the 4th until the aliens

Holding out for the Xbox 720(Blu-Ray disc drive) is getting harder and harder.

When I eventually pick this up, I'll just stick with the original trilogy, thank you.

For the record:

Raiders - one of the best movies of all time

Temple of Doom - not great, but still a lot of fun, especially the mine cart scene

Last Crusade - one of the best movies of all time

Crystal Skull - worst in the series, but not as terrible as people say, alien idea is pretty cool actually

I bet half the people on here who are bad mouthing Crystal Skull secretly love the movie. Of course to look cool they have to bad mouth it but we know they really love it.
