Jessica Chastain Offered Role In MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 5?

She's said to be nearing a deal to play Marilyn Monroe in Andrew Dominik's Blonde, but our pals over at the Schmoes Know reckon Paramount are looking at Chastain for a more action based role: joining Tom Cruise in Christopher McQuarrie's Mission Impossible 5.

A "very trusted source" for the Schmoes report that Paramount are looking to sign Jessica Chastain for a lead role next to Tom Cruise in the still untitled fifth Mission Impossible movie. Details on this role are sparse, but the site also say that should she accept, she'll play "Tom Cruise’s right hand woman". That sounds more like a fellow agent than another love interest, but who knows. We'll have to treat this as a rumor for now, but expect one of the trades to stick their oar in sooner rather than later. Iron Man 3 writer Drew Pearce will pen the screenplay for the movie, with Jack Reacher director Christopher McQuarrie at the helm.
