MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 7 Heads To 2022 While TOP GUN: MAVERICK, SNAKE EYES, & STAR TREK 4 Get New Dates

As restrictions are lifted and theaters reopen across the globe, restoring faith in the worldwide box office, Deadline is reporting that Paramount has reshuffled a number of its biggest upcoming release dates.

While initially set for a Fourth of July debut, Tom Cruise's long-awaited action sequel Top Gun: Maverick is now jetting off to November 19, while his other hotly-anticipated sequel Mission: Impossible 7 vacates the date and heads to May 27, 2022; for a Memorial Day weekend launch - coincidentally the same weekend both Mission: Impossible and Mission: Impossible II debuted in 1996 and 2000, respectively.

Mission: Impossible 8, which is expected to start filming this year, has moved to July 7, 2023.

The Joseph Kosinski-directed Top Gun sequel will now open opposite Warner Bros./HBO Max's King Richard starring Will Smith while the Christopher McQuarrie-directed Mission: Impossible sequel will open next to Lionsgate's John Wick: Chapter 4, although it seems probable the Keanu Reeves-actioner will end up moving.

Unfortunately, while the wait for those two titles just got a little bit longer, there is some good news as the studio has decided to move up Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins, which stars Henry Golding in the title role, from October to July 23

They've also moved their Chris Pine-fronted Dungeons and Dragons back one year to March 3, 2023; and have dated an untitled Star Trek film for June 9, 2023. However, it's unclear whether it'll be a follow-up to Star Trek Beyond or explore a new concept entirely.

Jackass 4 has moved to October 22, an untitled Bee Gees has been set for November 4, 2022, Ron Howard's The Shrinking of Treehorn has been set for November 10, 2023, and an untitled Ryan Reynolds/John Krasinski film has been set for November 17, 2023.
