There's no denying that the casts of both
The Expendables and
The Expendables 2 are pretty much a dream come true for action fans. However, there are still a fair few stars missing from them both, something that producer Avi Lerner is hoping to rectify with a planned third instalment in the franchise reports
Total Film.
"We’ve approached Clint Eastwood to be one of the guys, we’ve got a character in mind for him. We’re talking to Harrison Ford. [And we want] Wesley Snipes when he comes back from prison. I’ll give you one more name, we’ve got Nicolas Cage to play [one of the characters]. And we’re going to bring Mickey Rourke back, if he won’t be too crazy. I like Mickey. And of course, all the existing stars [will return]."
It appears as if Nicolas Cage (who worked with
The Expendables 2 director Simon West on
Con Air) has already signed up to play a character possibly called, 'Hunter Gatherer', although their recording apparently wasn't clear enough to pick up his name. The site also reveal a major spoiler about the fate of Jean-Claude Van Damme's 'Jean Vilain' in the sequel, and address the chances of him appearing in the planned third instalment (you can find all of that by clicking on the link below). The Expendables are back and this time it’s personal… Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone), Lee Christmas (Lee Statham), Yin Yang (Jet Li), Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren),Toll Road (Randy Couture) and Hale Caesar (Terry Crews) — with newest members Billy the Kid (Liam Hemsworth) and Maggie (Yu Nan) aboard — are reunited when Mr. Church (Bruce Willis) enlists the Expendables to take on a seemingly simple job. The task looks like an easy paycheck for Barney and his band of old-school mercenaries. But when things go wrong and one of their own is viciously killed, the Expendables are compelled to seek revenge in hostile territory where the odds are stacked against them. Hell-bent on payback, the crew cuts a swath of destruction through opposing forces, wreaking havoc and shutting down an unexpected threat in the nick of time — six pounds of weapons-grade plutonium; enough to change the balance of power in the world. But that’s nothing compared to the justice they serve against the villainous adversary who savagely murdered their brother. That is done the Expendables way...
