Penelope Cruz To Star In BOND 24?

Yahoo! are reporting that Cruz (wife of Skyfall baddie Javier Bardem) is in negotiations to appear as a "Bond girl" in the as yet untitled 24th James Bond flick, which is now expected to see Sam Mended return as director.

Take this one with the ever ready grain of salt until we have confirmation, but according to Yahoo! Movies UK, Oscar winning Spanish beauty Penelope Cruz looks set to sign on for the still untitled Bond 24. If this is true, Cruz (who turns 40 next April) would be the oldest Bond girl yet, taking the title from British actress Honor Blackman, who was 39 when she appeared in 1962’s Goldfinger as Pussy Galore. Here's an excerpt from Yahoo's report:



"A source close to the production of the £100 million film, likely to be directed by Sam Mendes after his success with 'Skyfall', said: ‘"The producers have tried to get Penelope before, but she has never been available because of other commitments. The discussions have been going on for some time and they are working out the contract details now."

It's entirely possible they are looking at actors at this stage..we know there's a completed script. If, like Yahoo claims, they've wanted to work with Cruz before and couldn't make it happen then they may well have had her in mind ages ago.

don't get me wrong Ror, I'm not criticising the article - it's possible but when it comes to Bond hype, going on past form the number of rumours which transpire to hold any water, especially at this early stage, are probably lower than 1 in a hundred.

The rumour moungers dropped lucky with Adele last time, because it was as inevitable as an american spoiling a twist on a forum.

True..it's just a rumor of course, even though Yahoo! are reporting it a s done deal. They're usually not a site that deals in unsubstantiated rumors though so figured there might be something to it.

Skyfall was absolutely great, but my only complaint was not having a very strong Bond girl. In fact, we haven't gotten a worthy Bond girl on screen ever since Eva Green as Vesper in Casino Royale. Having Penelope Cruz on board for the next movie would be a huge step in the right direction. She's ridiculously hot (even at her age), and a great actress as well.

This is good news if true. I like Penelope Cruz a lot. But I remember there was also rumors that Rachel Weisz was up for a role. Now I like her a lot too so maybe they can get both of them. How hot would that be?
