RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK To Get An IMAX Re-Release

Great news for any fans not lucky/old enough to have caught this first time around - Ahead of the Indiana Jones: The Complete Adventures Blu-ray release, Paramount will send the first - and best - of the series back to the big screen. The REALLY big screen..

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount is re-releasing Steven Spielberg's classic 1981 movie Raiders Of The Lost Ark, featuring Harrison Ford in his first outing as intrepid archaeologist/adventurer Indiana Jones, into IMAX theaters. The site report that an official announcement hasn't been issued by Paramount, but that the movie is popping up on various ticketing and theater websites as an attraction opening Sept 7th. Apparently an announcement is expected this week, but until then it is unclear how wide a release is being planned and what sort of campaign the studio will mount.

Paramount is releasing the Indiana Jones movie saga, titled Indiana Jones: The Complete Adventures for the first time on Blu-ray on Sept 18th.

as long as Lucas and Spielberg don't ASSRAPE Indy anymore, this is cool.

No deal Lucas. The only thing I would be interested in is a singular Raiders Blu-ray - not a box set, and even then I'd be checking if the remastering was of a great quality.

My local IMAX charge £18:00+ a damn ticket!. Theres no way I'm spending that much to see a (nearly) 30 year-old film and one I've seen dozens of times.

Unlikely to, but I hope they release in the UK! Raiders was the perfect action/adventure movie.
IMO, while Doom and Crusade are excellent films, they didn't quite capture the same tone as the 1st.

@nowtheresaBATman;
"the drinking scene in the Russian tavern alone is worth the price of a ticket :)"

The tavern battle and gunfire richochet sounds, especially the nice reverberating one near the end, is amazing in surround-sound.

Worse case scenario I'll wait for the blu-ray trilogy to drop to £15 then sell the other three films.

For those going to their IMAX to see this, I hope its good. Personally I think the sound could be amazing, so many iconic themes and scenes with great sfx in that film.

I love things like this, watching classic movies in sheathes are like walking back in time. I went to the First Blood re-release back in 2008 and had a blast. Audience reactions to a classic film are timeless. Cant wait for this and the Star Wars trilogy in 2015.

"the first - and best"
That's debatable. I think The Last Crusade is the best, followed closely by Raiders of the Lost Ark. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was pretty good, but Temple of Doom was absolutely terrible.

@ComicCritic ummmmmm what?

"... this day and age when money is becoming so valuable as a profit"

"Oh wait the fact to make extra money needed to take from the poor and give to the rich ie the opposite Robin Hood formula which has tricked many people."

again ummmmmmm what??

Nobody is stealing money from the poor to give to the rich. Also if you really have issues with movies making money perhaps the movie theater is not the place for you anyway.Maybe stick to pointless clip of dogs surfing on youtube or sub B level indi movies.

I don't care if Lucas makes an extra buck off me. He pretty much was the core entertainment and stimulated my imagination as a kid. I can't possibly imagine my childhood without Star Wars and the Jones movies in them.

Also Nerds the next Generation tend to bicker about Lucas. But if people were not buying what he was selling,he wouldn't be putting it out there.

His early films he directed were good but he should stick to what he does best and executive produce.

Hmmm but it would be cool if he put out a make your own Star Wars or Indy film kit where people could cut scenes together themselves in an almost choose your own adventure kind of scenario

It's great to see the best Indiana Jones film getting a re-release. In IMAX no less.

@bhorwith22 Wait... what? I'm sorry, there is no way KOTCS is better than TOD:

1. ROTLA
2. TLC
3. TOD
4. TAOYIJ - Young Indy
5.
6.
7.
8. KOTCS

Shia Labeouf as Indy's son? I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But being an Indiana Jones fan for as long as I can remember, I strongly disagree with you.

@mgeoff88 Temple of Doom is one of stupidest films ever made. Every single character is a racist stereotype, and extremely annoying. It is not only the worst Indiana Jones film, but one of the worst films I have seen in my life.
