Variety reports that Relativity Media and Hasbro have hired Dean Georgaris (Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, The Manchurian Candidate) to write the planned big screen version of Stretch Armstrong. The film (based on the popular toy) is being lined up as a potential new franchise and will apparently be developed as a, "plausible, action-oriented family pic than a live-action cartoon that'd be strictly for kids." Twilight star Taylor Lautner was attached to star when the property was with Universal and it is unknown whether that will still happen. Stretch Armstrong is currently set to be released on April 11, 2014 (a week after Captain America 2).

Do we really need this movie?
Do we really need to encourage the Twilight Wolf guy to keep making "movies"?

When Hollywood is reduced to making movies out of old toys from the '70s and board games, it truly is official that they are out of ideas.

Strider: I'm also tired of these lame links at the bottom. Does anyone actually look at that crap?

Mighty Max was pretty cool.

Stretch Armstrong movie though? That sounds as ridiculous as a movie done on battlesh.....

Oh.

I don't see myself watching a movie based on the Stretch Armstrong toy.

If I want to see a character than can stretch himself get their own movie: give me the Fantastic Four, Plastic Man, and Elastic Man instead.

@DocDangerous A Mighty Max movie would be awesome. I even had the Skull Mountain playset.

Mighty Max should be getting a live-action movie. Not Stretch Armstrong.
