Variety reports that Relativity Media and Hasbro have hired Dean Georgaris (
Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life,
The Manchurian Candidate) to write the planned big screen version of
Stretch Armstrong. The film (based on the popular toy) is being lined up as a potential new franchise and will apparently be developed as a, "plausible, action-oriented family pic than a live-action cartoon that'd be strictly for kids."
Twilight star Taylor Lautner was attached to star when the property was with Universal and it is unknown whether that will still happen.
Stretch Armstrong is currently set to be released on April 11, 2014 (a week after
Captain America 2).
