STRANGER THINGS Star David Harbour's Idea For An INDIANA JONES Reboot Sounds Quite Interesting

In an interview with Collider, actor David Harbour sheds light on some future projects he's like to explore, including... Indiana Jones?! Check out what his version of the character would be like.

David Harbour is all the rage right now. From Stranger Things to the upcoming Hellboy reboot, the actor (who can also sing and dance by the way) has been pretty busy of late. But with the Netflix show in between seasons and Hellboy having wrapped production, Harbour was asked what other projects he's looking to do in the future.

"I love all kinds of stuff. I really am so eclectic in my taste. I love film noir, I love thrillers, and I love big blockbuster popcorn cinema stuff, but I like it when it’s twinged with a bit more social consciousness," Harbour said.

Speaking of blockbuster popcorn cinema, Harbour recalled joking about rebooting Indiana Jones. And while some may say he's not quite fit for the character, his twist on the iconic role might just work. "There was some joking online, six months or a year ago, about rebooting Indiana Jones, and I would love to reboot Indiana Jones, if he was bipolar and a little bit fat and spent too much time grading papers." Harbour likely jokes when he says this, but is it that far from what we got with Harrison Ford in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull?

On a more serious note, Harbour revealed that he would like to "add some darkness" to the cinema already out there, which is what attracted him to Hellboy. He explained:

"I would like to add some darkness to the really fun cinema that we have. In that way, that’s what drew me to Hellboy. I really like big swashbuckling superhero films, but I feel like that Marvel universe is not adult enough. Deadpool and Logan tried to take the mythos in that direction, and I wanted to do that with Hellboy. That’s what I like. I like big, fun cinema, and then I like it to have more of an adult twinge to it, which makes simple concepts, of even something like love, much more complicated than perhaps we portray it for children or teenagers. I want to do something adult and complex where there are sacrifices or things don’t always work out."

You can see David Harbour gyrate his hips in Stranger Things on Netflix, and look out for Hellboy in 2019.
