Henry Cavill (“Man of Steel”) stars as Napoleon Solo opposite Armie Hammer (“The Social Network”) as Illya Kuryakin in director Guy Ritchie’s action adventure “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.,” a fresh take on the hugely popular 1960s television series. Set against the backdrop of the early 1960s, at the height of the Cold War, “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” centers on CIA agent Solo and KGB agent Kuryakin. Forced to put aside longstanding hostilities, the two team up on a joint mission to stop a mysterious international criminal organization, which is bent on destabilizing the fragile balance of power through the proliferation of nuclear weapons and technology. The duo’s only lead is the daughter of a vanished German scientist, who is the key to infiltrating the criminal organization, and they must race against time to find him and prevent a worldwide catastrophe.

Directed by Guy Ritchie and starring Henry Cavill, Armie Hammie, Alicia Vikander, Elizabeth Debicki, and Jared Harris, The Man From U.N.C.L.E. will be released on August 14th, 2015.

Not the biggest Guy Ritchie fan, but I'll watch anything with Alicia Vikander and Elizabeth Dibecki (who was great and underrused in THE GREAT GATSBY).

WOW!!!! I was obsessed by the TV show as a kid and have anticipated this movie since. Ritchie knows how to deliver with period action, and it looks like the cast brought their A game, too. I'm so excited about this film I can hardly contain my enthusiasm!

"Cavill sounds like Clooney in this." He sounds like Robert Vaughn, who played Napoleon Solo in the original 60's TV series.

Another spy movie...With Spy having opened Mission:Impossible 5 opening a week or two before this one...I think the market for this type of movie is going to be more than filled...The Man From U.N.C.L.E is going to have to compete with MI5 for the same audience...it's going to lose that competition.

Makes me wonder if Lone Ranger was a HIT or moderate success, would WB/DC choose Hammer to be Batman in the DCCU!? Hmmm just a thought.
