Fans of Gareth Evans' superb The Raid movies have been eagerly awaiting news on his next project, and it's just been announced that the filmmaker has signed a multi-year deal with Netflix.
He's set to team with Tom Hardy (TDKR, Venom) for his first feature for the streamer, and it sounds like a doozy.
Evans is set to helm Havoc, an action thriller about "a bruised detective (Hardy) who, after a drug deal gone wrong, must fight his way through a criminal underworld to rescue a politician's estranged son, while unravelling a deep web of corruption and conspiracy that ensnares his entire city."
If you're picturing Hardy cutting through entire swathes of enemies in ultra-violent and brilliantly choregraphed action sequences... join the club.
Evans also wrote the script, and will produce via his One More One Productions along with Hardy and frequent collaborators Ed Talfan of Saavern Screen and Aram Tertzakian of XYZ Films.
Havoc is reportedly set to commence production this June in Wales, where Evans shot his underrated 2018 horror flick Apostle starring Dan Stevens. No premiere date has been announced.
Hardy's next big-screen venture will see him reprise the role of Eddie Brock for Sony's Venom: Let There Be Carnage on June 25.
