The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Warner Bros. have picked up the rights to
Mandrake the Magician, a character created by Lee Falk in 1934. The studio are currently on the hunt for new writers (the project has been in development for a while at various other studios) in what will be a makeover in a similar style to that of the
Sherlock Holmes franchise. Mandrake is an illusionist who uses his powers to hypnotize his foes. He and his companion, an African strongman called Lothar, fight everyone from gangsters to aliens during their adventures. Oh, and his twin brother uses his hypnotic powers for evil instead of good. Atlas Entertainment are producing.
