Hunger Games is nothing, nothing like Twilight.

As for Catching Fire, my girlfriend saw it a couple of hours ago at a special charity viewing. She absolutely loved it, said it was easily ten times better than the first one (and yes, she did like it too) and planned to see it a couple of more times. She is as big a nerd as I am, so if she likes it that much, it must be pretty good. (For those wondering, we live 400 miles apart, which is why I didn't go with her.)

its okay, the acting was pretty bad for the most part but the story was interesting, it actually got good when they get to the games, and then as soon as it started getting interesting it ended.

6.5/10

Looking forward to this one. Girls hate it when I disrespect Twilight and then blame me for being sexist, which is ridiculous (I own resident evil and Underworld collections b/c they are guilty pleasures, both feature kick-ass women). It's all about whether it's a good movie or not and the Hunger Games has my attention. The first was descent but nothing special, but something tells me this one will be a lot better. Plus Jennifer Lawrence is a much more capable actress then Kristen Stewart..and hotter.

Well, I hated the first one more than the Dark Knight

@Nomis

It's decent entertainment, watch it for Jennifer Lawrence and the story. If you go in expecting a great action movie though you'll be disappointed; the camera is jumpy and cuts away every time something cool is about to happen.

To those of you that haven't given The Hunger Games (books or movie) a shot, you really should. Don't buy into the comparisons to Twilight; they really are nothing alike.

Will definitely be watching it this weekend! I liked the first one, but I'm glad to hear this is much better.

First one was rubbish. Hunger Games would be totally better if the movie was about zombies.

I love when grown men who read comicbooks love to hate on The Hunger Games by referring to them as teenage literature. The Irony.

Catching Fire was my favorite book of the series, and the movie looks so much better than the first one. Bring it on!

@OmegaDaGod

I was talking about the first, I have no idea about the second. It looks like it could be a lot better in that department though.

I'm going to sit down and watch the first one on Netflix tonight for the first time.

@forceflow I never have watched any of the Twilight movies. I'm proud of that fact. I've only seen a couple of scenes at a friend's house. That's it.

I'm lucky that the girls I've dated didn't care for them. I know one day that will change, and I'll have to watch them with a girl, but I'm hoping that won't be anytime soon lol.

You cannot take half of what he says seriously because he does these for entertainment not for accuracy. He’s more or less a comedian just speaking his mind. Plus his scale is literally all or nothing.

He's being satirical...he started this new rating system in response to the fact that just about every movie that comes out nowadays sparks a ridiculous flame war.

I don't understand all the excitement to this series...sure JL is [frick]able, but the 1st movie was not very good.

Catching Fire doesn't appear any better...maybe worse cuz it doesn't appear much different: BORING.

OK..I admit I havent seen the new Hunger Games, and under NO circumstances will I ever...so, for those of you that havent seen the 1st one, and are going to watch it because you are going/being dragged to the new one, here is an accurate review of the 1st Hunger Games:

This is one of the most boring films I have ever seen....watching paint dry is a better alternative. I expected a lot more from this movie due to the reviews and even my 71 year old Mother-In-Law's opinion. I kept watching it hoping something good would be around the corner, but that corner never came. At 1 hour and 2 mins into it I kept thinking, "Ok, it could still be good...the music is ramping up...maybe there will actually be a battle or at least a slap fight"...Nothing....1 Hour and 47 mins into it (still grasping onto a semblance of hope) the music ramped up and I thought, "Ok, here comes the battles I have been waiting for"...nothing. Even if you could make it through the tedium, the story is just silly (modernized 16th century clothing??)...There are no explanations of how and why society is this way (granted, maybe the book explains it..so, that means I will never know)...Just apparently one city for the rich and the rest of the planet puts up with it???...If you have an exciting life and your doctor wants you to rest and have no stress, then this is the movie for you!! Insomniacs, here is the cure you have been waiting for!!...take a shot of Nyquil and watch this movie and you will have your best nights sleep in years.
I want to sue to get my time and money back, and I saw it for free.

Yeah in no way these movies are action movies. They have action in them but the majority of the film is drama.

However, the films are 'okay'. I'll see this film on blu ray but i wont pay to see it in cinemas.

I was really underwhelmed with the first one...had no idea what the fuss was all about...

I am sure this will be the same...why are the majority of movie goers unimaginative mental deficient moronic sheep...

Twilight is all i need to say...
Nova2012
Nova2012 - 11/21/2013, 1:43 AM
Sorry Charlie, we are just going to have to agree to disagree (you did see where I mentioned tedium and silly, right?)...I would not have minded if it was actually tense and emotional....the only "tense" moment I had was continually looking at the clock waiting for the movie to be over...and the only "emotional" element was me crying over the 2 hours I lost out on of my finite time on earth watching this tween twilightesque flick....the only horrible thing about the games was the fact that 99.9% of the earth's population in the movie put up with the games....why didnt they just over run the Marie Antoinette Royalty dressers and make them be in the games instead??...it is not as if they had nukes aimed at everyones hut...the poor could have taken over with a bunch of pointed sticks....but, I am glad you enjoyed it and I hope you enjoy the new one as well :)

Comparing The Hunger Games to Twilight is pretty cruel. There both different in every way.

I heard Mockingjay is going to be the best film out of all them.

The reason people shit on Hunger Games is because it has a chick as a protagonist.

The first filme was pretty damn good and "Catching Fire" was brilliant. By far better than every single CBM this year.
