Filming took place at this Brooklyn, NY antiques shop yesterday, but what is it behind the scenes? CBM scoopers are speculating that this is the site of "project rebirth" where the first super soldier was born--namely Captain America. According to Marvel mythos a "curio shop" was the secret laboratory where a skinny Steve Rogers sucked down the super soldier serum and was instantly transformed into the peak of human physical perfection. After the experiment was deemed a success, a German spy shot and killed Dr. Erskine, the serum's creator, and thus the serum could not be duplicated again. Take a look at the cartoon after you watch the video for the full backstory.

Add to that the comments of Dr Erskine himself, Stanley Tucci, in this interview with MTV, where he says he will be doing more filming (probably for this scene) in October, and you get the idea that we're right on target. What do YOU think?

This from MTV...

Back in June, Marvel Studios announced that Stanley Tucci had joined the cast of "The First Avenger: Captain America" as Dr. Abraham Erskine, the German scientist behind Project Rebirth and the inventor of the Super Soldier serum that turned Steve Rogers into Captain America.

Although Dr. Erskine is a pivotal figure in backstory of "Captain America," very little is known is known about his personality and motivations. When MTV News recently caught up with Tucci, the actor was asked if Dr. Erskine was a mad scientist or a cool, calm and collected researcher.

"He's a combination of both," replied Tucci. "It's so much fun. I did it. I have to go back and finish in October. But I was there for a few weeks in August. It was a great experience."

"Captain America" will report for duty in theaters on July 22, 2011.
