GREEN LANTERN: BEWARE MY POWER Trailer Puts The Spotlight On John Stewart In Next DC Animated Movie

Warner Bros. Animation has released the first trailer for Green Lantern: Beware My Power, and with the spotlight shifted to John Stewart, this could be the Green Lantern movie fans have been waiting for...

It's been too long since we've seen Green Lantern on screen in a lead role, but over a decade after the live-action movie put Hal Jordan on the bench, we're getting a new animated adventure from Warner Bros. Animation. Green Lantern: Beware My Power shifts the spotlight to John Stewart, and this first look trailer confirms that Hal has fallen in battle in this iteration of the DC Animated Universe.

Sinestro needs to be dealt with, though, and it looks like John (who has only just become Green Lantern) will find some unexpected allies in Hawkgirl and Green Arrow.

"In Green Lantern: Beware My Power, recently discharged Marine sniper John Stewart is at a crossroads in his life, one which is only complicated by receiving an extraterrestrial ring which grants him the powers of the Green Lantern of Earth," reads the synopsis for the movie. "Unfortunately, the ring doesn't come with instructions - but it does come with baggage, like a horde of interplanetary killers bent on eliminating every Green Lantern in the universe."

"Now, with the aid of the light-hearted Green Arrow, Adam Strange and Hawkgirl, this reluctant soldier must journey into the heart of a galactic Rann/Thanagar war and somehow succeed where all other Green Lanterns have failed. The film's Supervising Producer is Butch Lukic."

We don't have a list of confirmed cast members, but it definitely sounds like Nolan North (Uncharted) has lent his voice to one of the characters here. Hopefully, more details will be revealed soon. Green Lantern: Beware My Power will be available on 4K, Blu-ray & Digital starting July 26, 2022.

Now this looks damn good. The GL movie we deserve. Been loving this animation style.

@GhostDog - My only gripe is that, they essentially wiped out the corp as mentioned in the trailer. That said, any hawkgirl looks great and I'm glad she's back.

@The1st - I noticed that too. Hopefully we see enough of them before they’re wiped

@The1st - I don’t believe that… it’s probably going to be some sort of weapon that sent them to another dimension or some such thing.

@ScaryTerry - My thoughts too. Something that conveniently brings them back at the end. That OA guy from the trailer though...yeah, he might just be dead.

Still gotta watch The Long Halloween, but I'm already loving this universe. Think we're already getting close to Justice League, seeing how we've already had Superman, Batman, Martian Manhunter, Flash, Wonder Woman and now Green Lantern.

@bkmeijer1 - I too am enjoying this shared universe. Long Halloween part 1 was good but I felt a little let down by part 2. But it’s still good overall

@Arthorious - I'll probably watch them back-to-back soon, so good to know what to expect

@bkmeijer1 - I'm just wondering if & when WB/DC will release a single disc version, as they did with TDKR...!

@Deadinside - I do remember some sort of announcement for it to be released as a single movie on HBO Max. Could be wrong though

@bkmeijer1 - 😭 I just wanna watch it without having to change discs...oh, woe is me & the problems in my life...!

I got a soft spot for the Green Lantern Corps, so it's great to see them get another animated movie. Especially with John Stewart as the star.

And hey, this Man of Tomorrow-verse shaping up pretty nicely.

This animation has been outstanding. Honestly, if they wanted to reboot the DCEU (just call it the DCU for crying out loud) for cinemas in animated form I’d be all about that. Could be a good way for them to differentiate from Marvel while healing the brand at the same time while making stand alone franchises like The Batman and movies like Joker live action. Just my opinion though, I know the majority wants live action and I totally get it.

"HI" ... **beat the shit out of him gangbang style** ... Damn, guys. The man just said hi. Can you talk for 5 seconds?

Also, kind of disappointed we're getting a GLC series. GLC deserves a movie damn it. I don't know why that old film hangs over this franchise like dark cloud. They have GOTG times a million under their noses and they don't utilize it.

Cool. I’m loving this new animated movie universe they’ve been building. Would love a Teen Titans movie centering around the Fab Five.

Ok now I'm digging this. About time they gave John Stewart some shine! I guess they are really shaping this new DC animated universe. The only movie I didn't like that much was the Long Halloween. Being such a huge fan of the original book it had some let downs but was ok. I'm hoping Hal Jordan is not actually dead in this movie though. Also cool to see the Sinestro Core, still hoping for a Blackest Night animated movie one day.

Glad that we're finally geting some form of GL action but I wish they wouldn't use this animation style on every DC animated movie; it lowkey looks cheap as hell sometimes, also I see they're taking the whole "Becoming the last Green Latern after the Corps was wiped out" from Kyle Rayner and giving it to John huh?

DudeGuy
DudeGuy - 5/5/2022, 1:17 PM
@Superspecialawesomeguy - yeah that’s lame. Kyle was always my second favorite Lantern after Hal. I know John has his fanbase and I can appreciate him at times but I’ve always found him boring to be honest. I’ll take him over Guy though. I genuinely Hate Guy Gardner.

@Superspecialawesomeguy - Looks like DC animation is finally releasing that there's more to DC than Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman.

Now that you mentioned Kyle, I wouldn't mind him being in the movie too. My favorite lantern.

I don't know why they have to rewrite the entire.... well everything, killing off the rest of the GL corp.

I dunno. I love the GL stories when they keep the world that was established and explore the idea of this universal force as a group.

It looked cool until I saw that they killed off Hal and most of the GL corp. Now I'm sorta checked out.

Finally some Green Lantern content. Kinda lame how they basically gave him the same origin as Hal though.
dracula
dracula - 5/5/2022, 1:11 PM
@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - think its more like Kyle’s origin
THEDARKKNIGHT1939
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 5/5/2022, 2:43 PM
@dracula - True, it does use Kyle's origin too. It's a mix.

John coming across a crashed spaceship and being recruited by a dying alien is Hal's.

John getting the ring from a Guardian after Oa's been attacked is Kyle's.
dracula
dracula - 5/5/2022, 2:47 PM
@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - probably because really John and even Guy don't have interesting origins.
