SPAWN Movie Remains In Active Development According To Producer Jason Blum
Updates on Spawn have been few and far between in recent months, but producer Jason Blum has now promised that he's seen a "seismic event" take place over the past few weeks on Todd McFarlane's film!
The original Spawn movie didn't resonate with fans of the Image Comics icon, and a reboot is now in the works from creator Todd McFarlane. He's penned the screenplay and also intends to direct, and while Jamie Foxx is said to be on board in the lead role, work appeared to have slowed even before the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic put Hollywood on lockdown.
According to producer Jason Blum, however, there has been "an enormous amount of activity" on the film lately, and he describes that as being akin to a "seismic event."
"No new news that I'm going to reveal here, I'm sorry to tell you, but the title 'Spawn,' I've been uttering that word a lot in the last two or three weeks and we'll have more news to come," Blum teased in an interview with ComicBook.com. "I wanna make the movie so badly...but in this case, I've actually been talking to other people about it."
It's been confirmed by McFarlane that his Spawn film will be R-Rated, and though he previously explained that a major name had walked away from from the project and caused massive financial implications, Blum's comments indicate that it remains alive and well at Blumhouse.
