Chinese-American actress Ming-Na Wen, who starred as Melinda May in ABC's
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., will have a cameo in an upcoming episode of Marvel's animated series
Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout.
Marvel briefly detailed two new episodes for the show debuting this weekend, the first of which will feature Ming-Na Wen as the voice of Phyla-Vell.
Ming-Na Wen, who is also known for voicing the Disney Princess Mulan, will provide the voice for Phyla-Vell in the first episode of this weekend's double feature, titled
"Happy Together." Marvel shared the episode's synopsis as well as a sneak peek clip from the episode teasing Wen's performance.
In the episode “Happy Together,” The Guardians, desperate after squandering their riches almost instantly, take what they believe to be a simple transport job. What they don’t know is that they are stealing a mysterious item from the Krr, and the ruthless Kree leader Phyla the Accuser will stop at nothing to get it back!
“Phyla-Vell is a fierce warrior who’s main objective is to bring criminals to justice.” Ming-Na Wen said of her new Guardians role.
“It was very fun to play such a strong woman who is sure about what’s right and wrong.”
Marvel also provided a synopsis for the second episode airing directly afterward, titled
"Gotta Get Outta This Place."
Then, in the episode “Gotta Get Outta This Place,” the Guardians find themselves in prison for stealing a mysterious “package” from the Kree – but it was all set up by Howard the Duck. Can they escape the ultimate prison run by the evil warden Minn-Erva and prove their innocence?
