Mask of Phantasm gives Bruce another love interests, which I respect. It makes Bruce Wayne more realistic, most people struggle with more than one relationship in their life. (Clark Kent and Lois Lane, tired of it). They also used the villain in this in an episode of Justice League to tie it up with Batman Beyond. Also considering when it was made, if it came out the same year as Under the Red Hood, it would have been way darker.
Under the Red Hood tells a story a lot of people never actually saw/read, they just heard about it. It was made for adults and lets you hear our characters in a respectably different voice. Red Hood/Jensen Ackles and Nightwing/NPH both really surprised me. It was dark and bloody. But at the very end, a flashback to Jason Todd's first day as robin, shows a moment of innocence. It may come off as a little campy, but it help draws an image for the drastic change that has occurred with Jason Todd.
Its far to say that they are very close in quality. Even if one were better than the other, it is by a tiny margin. (ie. 9.5/10 vs 9.2/10)

No contest Under the Red Hood was a good movie but Mask of the Phantasm is one of the greatest Batman movies ever up there with the Dark Knight. I'd probably say even better than Burton's Batman.

Both great. I would go for red hood though. I wonder how these movies would be received in the cinema. I know mask of the phantasm was released and was very successful maybe more of that would be good.

Oh man! Tough one. I'm gonna go with Under The Red Hood. It includes accurate portrayals of 2 of my favorite characters, Jason Todd and Dick Grayson and provides better action. Although Mask of the Phantasm has the best characterization of Bruce Wayne ever. Again, Very good poll.
