I know some of our international visitors have watched the finale of Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes this past summer but the last episode is finally airing in the U.S. this Sunday. As this series ends, and Avengers Assemble look set to begin next year, the shows' producers, writers and voice cast look back on their time on the show and send out a bunch of thanks to the Marvel fans.
The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes (also known as The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes!) is an American animated television series by Marvel Animation in cooperation with Film Roman based on the Marvel Comics superhero team the Avengers. The show debuted on Disney XD in Fall 2010 starting with a 20 part micro-series.
Marvel Entertainment, LLC and Disney XD announced that a "new Marvel Universe" programming block named Marvel Universe which includes Season 2 of Avengers and the animated Ultimate Spider-Man series that began broadcasting in April 2012.
The series initially features a team based on the roster for the original Avengers, comprised of Iron Man (Anthony "Tony" Stark), Ant-Man/Giant-Man (Henry "Hank" Pym), the Hulk (Robert "Bruce" Banner), Thor (Thor Odinson), and the Wasp (Janet Van Dyne). The team is later joined by Captain America (Steven "Steve" Rogers), the Black Panther (T'Challa), and Hawkeye (Clinton "Clint" Barton) in the first season, while in the second season, Ms. Marvel (Carol Danvers) and the Vision join the roster, with Spider-Man (Peter Benjamin Parker) named to reserve member status. In terms of overall tone and style, the series is based principally on the original stories by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. However, it also tends to utilize material from all eras of the comic's run as well as other sources, such as the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The series is going to be replaced and continued by Avengers Assemble in 2013.
