USA Today has debuted the new trailer for Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The show is gearing up for the final four episodes with a long story arc that will include one of the only bright spots in Episode I, Darth Maul. Maul will have survived his encounter from the first installment of the franchise but will need help getting around with a robotic lower half. And for all of you fans of the double sided lightsaber you will be disappointed to find out he will only use the half that survived the battle with Obi-Wan.

Catch Star Wars: The Clone Wars Friday's on Cartoon Network.

This is utter and complete bilge! The guy got LITERALLY CUT IN HALF at his belly-!, and fell into who know what!

This is soooooooo damn pathetic! Will Lucas compromise the demise of a character in a movie that sucked just to pander to the popularity of Maul to make a few more bucks!!! WTF!

headlopper- Since i [frick]ing hated Episode 1 and Maul was definitely the best part about it, i was pretty peeved he died so quickly and easily at the end. So i for one am glad they're bringing him back. But to each's own :)

This is... Pure awesomeness.

That trailer was... excellent.

I'll definitely be tuning in. Maul is my favorite SW character. Actually just started reading "The Wrath of Darth Maul" it's about his childhood & up with Sideous.

@Shaman- Okay, I get that.
Then do a little Darth Maul PREQUEL business!
The writer's could have dreamed up a zillion things to put him in prior to meeting Qui-jon and Obi-Wan!

Something like what Maul had to do, in creative and interesting worlds AND situations, in his training as a Sith!
It could have been a whole series in and of itself!

Don't 'raise the dead' to accommodate a desired story-line which offers the prospects of more financial profit !
Such a damn compromise! Weak , lazy writing.

this isn't new actually, this was explored in the comic series. It was pretty good actualy

@headlopper okay dude, we get it you don't like the prequels. Stop trolling every star wars prequel thing. If you don't like them don't bother clicking on the post, it's that simple

and if anyone is curious as to what happened, maul hunted obi-wan, found him on tatooine attacked luke to draw him out, which led to owen forbidding obi-wan to bed around luke for endangering his life. pretty good story

Who is that yellow Darth Maul? The only reason I will entertain this idiocy is so I can someday see the return of Boba Fett because I know he didn't die in the Sarlacc Pit.

Ummm... Yeah. Maul returning as a cyborg is actually pretty faithful to the comics as well as the canon Star Wars mythos.

As for the story line, who knows as long as it well written.

@bgg1175- Oh sh**! I'd like to see that!(NOT sarcasm!)

@kisama- My grandmother used to call me 'Scusetomod' . Rough Sicilian translation for 'Ball-Buster'.
However I am DEAD SERIOUS about my opinions regarding 'Star Wars'. No trolling here.
I feel compelled to defend the heritage of SW 4,5 & 6! I know that SW 1, 2 & 3 have little to NOTHING to do with the original '3-quels', but even so, they- as this article illustrates - are FULL of contradictions and implausibilities that are inexcusable to a Star Wars geek such as myself.

Moreover, I would appreciate if you wouldn't presume to tell me what to do...unless I of course came out of your balls ...which I'm still fairly confident is an honor reserved for my dad.(as far as I know)

This is pathetic, probably the dumbest idea I've ever heard of in Star Wars. There's no reason Maul should be alive. It makes no sense. None.

I've not seen any of this series, but I've heard good things. I am no prequels fan, but maul was a good character, so I've no major problem with seeing him return cyborg style in a cartoon, but what gets me is that Lucas signed off on this for pure dollar bills. Didn't he specifically get the TPM footage changed so Maul got sliced in half to avoid any ambiguity that he was totally dead??? This is why I resent giving him my money these days

This happened in the Non-Canon Expanded Universe comics, so now that this is apparently canon, does that mean that what happened in the comics is now canon?

GeraldDempseyBROseyIII, They've covered that in comics and novels. Fett escaped the Sarlac and continues his adventures.

I knew this was coming way back when they introduced Savage Opress. At the end of that arc, the Night Mother sent Savage to train with a Sith Master. This Sith was shown in a lil crystal ball thingy but only his eyes and I knew it was Maul. That preview was badass, gave me goose-bumps.

@Monkeyballs I honestly feel that when Lucas dies he will somehow be able to take the rights to Star Wars to his grave so that no one can ever touch Star Wars ever again. Definitely sounds like something he would try and pull

@headlopper, implausibilities, do you like comics? Luke fell further in bespin with out getting even a rug burn. Maul is a sith lord, this plotline is supposed to expand upon the skills of cheating death that plaguis learned and then taught sidious. I get that anything tied to the prequels is evil to you but have you ever given this show a chance? Anyways I love this and am so stoked for it. BTW I would not mind a star wars reboot one day. I am open to new stuff.

Ventress is my favorite character!!!! I hope they don't kill her off this season!! But this 4 part story arc looks to be the best 4 episodes they have ever produced!

Boo-yah, bring on more Maul!

@JokerHarleyLove: Nope, they won't kill Asajj, she has to 'disappear, never to be heard from again'...

I'm interested to see if they go with the digitigrade legs like in the comics, or if they give him more 'normal' prosthetics.

...that, and I'm wondering if they'll extend his horns as well.
