“They suck. It's unbelievable how bad movies have been.”

Speaking at an event for Fortune, Katzenberg even managed to get audience support for his judgement by asking people who agreed with him.

“Let me have a show of hands of people that would say the last seven or eight months of movies is the worst line-up of movies you've experienced in the last five years of your life.”

“I think there were, unfortunately, a number of people who thought that they could capitalise on what was a great, genuine excitement by moviegoers for a new premium experience, and thought they could just deliver a kind of low-end crappy version of it, and people wouldn't care, or wouldn't know the difference. And anything - you know, nothing could have been further from the truth.”

That's what Jeffrey Katzenburg had to say on the matter!

Personally, I sort of agree with him, but we have had great movies like X-Men: First Class, Thor, Harry Potter and Captain America has been getting good reviews! Plus we have had some duds like Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Green Lantern and Transformers: Dark of the Moon, but I think he should take a look at Dreamworks film catalogue and see how many the audience actully liked!

He's right, no denying it. I mean look at the sad crap people watch on tv. Seen Cartoon Network lately? Why I'm glad we have Nolan, makes movies worth the time and most importantly, the money. Or would everyone wanna see Hangover 2 again ;)

He's so right. I was so excited for the movies of 2011, but most of them are just not what they should have been. This is exactly the reason why I'm excited for 2012, yet at the same time very weary of it.

He's so right, sort of like that company that thought they could capitalise on fans excitement with Shrek so they not only made one sequel but two more after that. I think it become trendy to complain about everything. There have been some great movies this year.

Yeah, if only more movies could be as shitty as the Shrek and Ice Age series. Pot meet kettle.

-transformers is the same crapy thing than the others !
-thor have the smallest scenario i ever seen and was too much family friendly !
-green lantern was euh.... special ?
the only good thing was first class, who gives us much more than fxs & action like a very good script and real interpretations (fassebender & mc avoy)!!

I think if you read between the lines he may be refering to the exploytation of the 3D phenominon. How after the sucess of the AVATAR movie companies are slaping together 2D produced movies and converting them after the production is finished to 3D.... To sort of ride the 3D wave; if you will and I agree 100%. Low production worked right after Avatar but now people have caught on. No Bueno! PS. Marvel got it right with Cap absolutly loved it! People complain of the action gaps in the movie but its to allow for sequels to take place in that same time period.
