HULK AND THE AGENTS OF S.M.A.S.H To Last One Season? AVENGERS ASSEMBLE Here To Stay?

An interesting rumor claims that Marvel's upcoming Hulk animated series might only last a one season of 13 episodes while Avengers Assemble will last a lot longer

An interesting rumor, that surfaced on the daily Marvelite, claims that Marvel's upcoming Hulk animated series will only run for one season, while Avengers Assemble might last a lot longer.

From the source site: "Marvel’s upcoming animated series is looking great, according to our sources. The show is not only been talked about, positively, inside and outside Marvel but Toy retailers have showed a big demand for the show’s action figures, which led Marvel to order a second season for the show before it even debuted. This is the same thing that happened with Ultimate Spider-Man (regardless of how Marvel looked like they made the decision because of the great ratings). So expect Avengers Assemble to run for at least 2 seasons, but word has it that we might, finally, get more than 52 episodes, which means higher chances (or more likely hope) for more than two seasons. Don’t expect to hear the official second season announcement until few weeks after the show’s premiere. "

The site then moves to talk about Hulk and the agents of S.M.A.S.H:" Unlike avengers Assemble, the negative reaction the show has been getting from both inside and outside Marvel made the company very cautious about ordering two seasons at the same time. A matter that has gotten only worse, by the low, to non existent, demand Toy companies have showed regarding the license. For these two reasons, Hulk and the Agents of SMASH will run for only one season. "

The article then claims this interesting bit of info :"There are two things i couldn’t confirm: The first thing is that i heard that Hulk and the agents of SMASH season 1 will only run for 13 episodes, and not 26. I will update this story as soon as i confirm the truth about this info."

S.M.A.S.H. seemed redundant anyway. why have another hulk show when he's on avengers? if you're going to do things like that then spider-man should be in Avengers.

@ToTheManWithTheExceptionalBeard- Actually, Josh Keaton (Voice of Hal Jordan) said in an interview that the reason GL:TAS was cancelled was because there was no merchandise to profit from. Therefore, there was no way to cover the production costs to make an episode. LEVITIKUZ is right.

I was reading the comment section on IGN recently, and read a comment from some guy who said that Beware the Batman is also cancelled before it even airs...
He has friends working on the show, that's how he knew...
But hey..if it's true who didn't see that one coming??
It's f^%$#%! CN we're talking about...
Plus the show looks like shite...

Fvck those money-grubbing executives at Disney and fvck the hellish, bottomless pit that Jeph Loeb crawled out of.

Yep toys rule it all. And that's stupid cause kids don't play with toys anymore. They play with I PADS now. Make some good video games for the tablets and you have the kids attention. Mine too I might add.

Glad Agents of Stupid wont go far...not the best idea for a show anyway.

They should do a Heroes for Hire toon...they were awesome in A:EMH

And beyond all the prejudgment for this new avengers show....who knows..could even be better than EMH...could even tie into the movies. Im down for that.

Jeph Loeb needs to get the ball moving on more TV stuff. Took way too long to get something like SHIELD made..plus it took Joss Whedon.

When the hell is Marvel and Star Wars gunna get their own channel or at least share one dammit?? Same with DC!!!

DISNEY GET ON UR JOB!!

But yeah if the thought about their show concept, they could have easily have known that there would be no demand for toys from Beware the Batman..
Which kid wants to play with a villain that looks like a pig or a frog... not really menacing is it...

"If you can't make a cartoon profitable you cancel it. That's why YJ got canceled and YJ [frick]ed up the chances for GL."

It didn't really help that the YJ toys were expensive and looked like ass.
I'm still grumpy about this, that show was great.

ToDandy@ we don't need to cancel yet another show - Ultimate just needs to evolve into a "real spider-man show" as you put it. drop them team, im sick of spider-man and his amazing friends 2013. The animation is starting to bother me too. i watch Ultimate, EMH and, on DVD, Spectacular. and imo Ultimate has the ugliest, choppiest, least-unique animation style out there. sure the character models for EMH and Spectacular were a little wonky at first but it only took some getting used to and then it was the last ting on your mind. plus keeping them basic like that gave the opportunity to have really fluid animation. Spectacular had THE BEST fight scenes. Ultimate is like a giant marketing campaign to sell spider-cycle toys. NEWS FLASH: kids will by the accessories even if they're not in the show.

OdinsBeard - 3/20/2013, 4:03 PM
vaportrail@ i think the problem is they try to make toys actually look like the animation. and no one really wants that. all you have to do is put the shows logo on the package and sell us a solid action figure worth the price. For instance i like to collect the marvel universe figures- yet every store is always sold out and hasbro keep those things locked-up like blood diamonds. i don't see a show called marvel universe... meaning people will buy (and sell out of) good toys. just make good toys and they'll sell. not cheap cash-ins.

plus how long did batman: TAS last? quite awhile... and i never had one toy that looked like those characters, but you can bet your ass i had a ton of batman toys laying around. just use other figures under your ownership to fund your show. and maybe get some people on your team that actually watch cartoons and buy the toys.

@ Levitikuz and Vaportrail.
The merch of YJ failing wasn't the reason that GL:TAS also got canned..
It's because the Green Lantern movie...It performed horrible, thus didn't sell toys.. Which in turn didn't give retailers the confidence in more GL toys while they had still a lot of them collecting dust.. Because of this WB and CN didn't even bother making merchandise for GL:TAS.

In short it was doomed to fail from the get-go.
Another reason for you lot to hate the GL movie ;)

Avengers looks good but, Hulk show look stupid, but I'm a nerd and will watch them only to like them and then have them get canceled like Clone Wars, Green Lantern, Justice League, Justice league Unlimited,Mighty Avengers and Young Justice and many more.

Here's my question in relation to the toy sales domain. Bruce Timm mentioned GL's cancellation was due to low toy sales. But I've never actually seen any GL Animated toys save for an Atrocitus statue and some happy meal toys at McDonalds. I've looked online and found zilch. Did these toys actually exist?

TerminalVoyd

"For these two reasons, Hulk and the Agents of SMASH will run for only one season. "

So, unless the ratings turn out to be phenomenal (translation: the kids are eating it up and wondering why they can't find more toys REALLY VOCALLY), this show has essentially been canceled before it's even premiered.

This might be worrying if only from an "inverse" Green Lantern standpoint. The poor movie toy sales pretty much killed any interest in a GL:TAS toyline. I really hope some numb nuts doesn't equate this as "We shouldn't consider another stand alone Hulk movie in the future because we couldn't even manage to merch out the cheaper cartoon alternative."

got to say, marvels really serious about brand recognition, you notice they always put marvel in front of all of their cartoons nowadays. Howcome dc never did that with their shows

@ SnapperCarr, Yeah please let him unite him with Bruce Timm again. And now while he has more time on his hands, let him write the story for the next arkham game as well. Or at least consult on the story, because if the rumours are true they are already making the game.

@BetaRay28

"@Avengers looks good but, Hulk show look stupid, but I'm a nerd and will watch them only to like them and then have them get canceled like Clone Wars, Green Lantern, Justice League, Justice league Unlimited,Mighty Avengers and Young Justice and many more"

The Clone Wars situation is tricky. Disney can't just take it away from Cartoon Network and air it there, so that one has to wind down in order for Disney to make Star Wars "Disney exclusive" in the same way they've done with Marvel properties. Odds are, once Clone Wars ends on TV, there'll be either Web or DVD content (or both) to tie up any loose ends.

Justice League wasn't canceled. It became Justice League Unlimited. The showrunners understood the ratings and the toy sales dynamic and with the second season, began writing as if that season would be the final one. The show was picked up for a final third season and ended well. There was no midseason cancellation.

As for Avengers: EMH... well.... we'll see if Jeph Loeb is talking out of his ass when he says Avengers Assemble continues EMH's continuity and is an extension of that show. I'm hopeful, but I'm not exactly full of trust on that score either.
