Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths Director Wants To Make A Sandman Movie Next

IESB have an interview with Lauren Montgomery and Sam Liu, the animation directors of the past three DC Universe films. In it Liu mentions that he would like to make Sandman(Morpheus) his next project.(And there's something about Aquaman in there too!)

The interview is mainly about their work on the latest DCU Animated Movie, Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths and it's a good one. But I just picked out this part that I thought was very interesting.

Asked what other DCU projects they would want to do next...

LAUREN MONTGOMERY:
I want that Aquaman project, but I doubt we'll every make it.

SAM LIU:
I'd love to do Sandman from the Vertigo line. I don't know what kind of story that would be, but I'd love to work with Neil Gaiman because I really loved those comics.

I'm sure Liu is just wish listing. How awesome would an animated Sandman movie be? Many people feel this could be the only way to do the comic justice. Personally I think with today's technology in a live action movie would work--if done properly. I would be more concerned with a director/screenwriter losing some of the magic of Gaiman's stories in translation. But an animated movie would be a great place to start. So let's hope this is more than wishful thinking from these talented folks.

Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths will be released February 23, 2010 as a Special Edition 2-disc version on DVD and Blu-Ray
