THE LEGO MOVIE 2: Everything Is Awesome MAD MAX In The Sequel's First Teaser Trailer

The first teaser trailer for The LEGO Movie 2 has been released today and it offers up a first look at what we should expect from the highly anticipated sequel. As you can see, the story is going to revolve around a post-apocalyptic Bricksburg and what happens when invaders from outer space attack it.

It definitely looks like a departure from the first instalment and the biggest surprise here is the lack of big-name cameos. You'd think the trailer would have thrown a few in to get fans talking after all.

Reprising their fan-favourite characters from The LEGO Movie are Chris Pratt as Emmet, Elizabeth Banks as Lucy (aka Wyldstyle), Will Arnett as LEGO Batman, Nick Offerman as Metal Beard, and Alison Brie as Unikitty. They are joined by Tiffany Haddish, Stephanie Beatriz, and Arturo Castro as, respectively, new characters Queen Watevra Wa-Nabi, Sweet Mayhem and Ice Cream Cone. That's quite the ensemble!

The sequel is currently set to be released on February 8th, 2019, so be sure to stay tuned for updates.

The LEGO Movie 2 reunites the heroes of Bricksburg in an all new action-packed adventure to save their beloved city. It’s been five years since everything was awesome and the citizens are facing a huge new threat: LEGO DUPLO invaders from outer space, wrecking everything faster than they can rebuild. The battle to defeat them and restore harmony to the LEGO universe will take Emmet, Lucy, Batman and their friends to faraway, unexplored worlds, including a strange galaxy where everything is a musical. It will test their courage, creativity and Master Building skills, and reveal just how special they really are.

I bet two coffees are even more overpriced than one. I also expect that the alien is linked to another super duper plot twist

2 LEGO movies last year was a bad idea in regards to watering down the franchise, but at least this trailer doesn’t make it seem like they’ve lost a step.

Very excited for this. Loved lego batman and it great to see that there were consequences to the ending of the first film. The mad max vibe of the film looks and feels great.

Btw can anyone see this comment? I think my comments are not coming up when posted.

Lego Movie made my top 10 the year it came out. Loved that movie. Don't know if this one can live up to the original, especially without Lord and Miller, but the trailer looks pretty good!
