THE SMURFS 2 - Gargamel creates Hackus and Vexy, a couple of evil Smurf-like creatures called the Naughties, to harness the magical Smurf essence. When he discovers that only a real Smurf can give him what he wants and that only Smurfette can turn the Naughties into real Smurfs, Gargamel kidnaps Smurfette and takes her to Paris. There, with the help of the Smurf essence, Gargamel hopes to use the Eiffel Tower as an energy-generating antenna to finally return home. It is up to Papa, Clumsy, Grouchy, and Vanity to return to the human world and seek help from their friends Patrick and Grace Winslow




THE SMURFS 2 is being directed by Raja Gosnell, and will feature a live-action cast made up of: Hank Azaria as Gargamel, Neil Patrick Harris as Patrick Winslow, Jayma Mays as Grace Winslow, Sofía Vergara as Odile Anjelou, Brendan Gleeson as Victor Doyle, Patrick's stepfather, and Jacob Tremblay as Blue Winslow. While the voice cast will include: Jonathan Winters as Papa Smurf, Katy Perry as Smurfette, Fred Armisen as Brainy Smurf, Alan Cumming as Gutsy Smurf, Anton Yelchin as Clumsy Smurf, George Lopez as Grouchy Smurf, John Oliver as Vanity Smurf, Christina Ricci as Vexy, and J. B. Smoove as Hackus. The film is scheduled to be released on July 31, 2013.

Of course The Smurfs beat the watered down Marvel films, heck, none of the Marvel films besides Iron Man have performed well domestically by themselves. Batman Forever and Superman Returns even beat those films.....and ticket prices were cheaper then! LOL....

Yeah, Smurfs beat out those other films because it's a kiddie movie. Those tend to make a lot of dough. I'm avoiding the sequel like the plague.

Sorry but I enjoyed NPH in Smurfs. Wouldn't have seen it if I didn't have a kid, but NPH kept me entertained.
