News broke today that the DC Comics animated shows Young Justice and Green Lantern: The Animated Series were going to be canceled. After a press release of Cartoon Network 2013-2014 lists of new and returning shows didn't have the 2 DC Comics show, fans of the show went into panic mode. News then broke that the shows were going to be canceled simply because it wasn't on the programming list BUT NOT SO FAST MY FRIENDS! Two representatives from Cartoon Network told The World's Finest about why Young Justice and Green Lantern: The Animated Series was absent from the schedule.

“Shows will run their courses, others will premiere – but we are not canceling anything, and those two series are still on our air.” – Cartoon Network representative

“[We] still have premieres for both those shows and are committed to excellent action programming and are very excited about ‘Beware the Batman.’” – Cartoon Network representative

It seems like they aren't canceled but just won't be on while new DC shows, Beware The Batman and Teen Titans GO!, are on. In other news, nothing about the possibility of Hellboy 3 happening. Peace.

Double talk from execs. I have confirmation from directors and actors that the show was cancelled a while ago and they just had to keep quiet till WB announced it.

I asked after the news dropped and they confirmed.Well, they confirmed production shut down a while back so WB could have a last minute change of heart I suppose but the time it takes to produce a show would mean there wouldn't be any new episodes anytime soon.

WB and DC comics have to start getting more organized. A mistake with a wrong announcement of a cancellation can coast a company millions of dollars and eventually the end of a product.

Please don't cancel it! Please? WB don't be stupid please? Is that too much to ask?

@shahrazstate is right. WB need to get their act together. Stop rushing Justice League. Stop rushing everything. Take your time, get your shit together and worry about making good movies/shows/comics etc.

So, they are cancelled? not cancelled? postponed? What is the status of these series? You cant leave them out of the press release and not mention the status of them. That only just make fans of the shows angry especially after the stunt they pulled last fall. Just announce a clear status of these shows already and stop beating around the bush.

it was likely they werent cancelled maybe young justice but definitely not green lantern it literally just started and plus it is a one hour block only so there's only so much they can fit into it same thing for marvels shows u cant expect green lantern, young justice, beware the batman and teen titans to all be on at the same time for a hour block im guessing once these seasons for green lantern and young justice go on break for the new seasons the new shows will run their course and then theyll just keep switching between them

Here comes the mighty bag of koolaid, brother of bag of tea, to shed some light.....They are obviously going to do seasonal shows, as said "Beware the bat", and "Teen Titans GO" will start in the summer, which is when "Green lantern:TAS" and "Young Justice" will go off....so the new shows will be summer shows (Mid may-mid august), and the current shows will be on the rest of the time (mid august-mid may). I would bet my socks and that tea would posts bewbs if he were here on it.

Okay now they're just screwing with the fans. I bet you they planned on cancelling it, noticed the obvious reaction from the shows' MASSIVE fanbase, and then hastily corrected their mistake. But see, now they havta bring the shows back. After this little stunt, if they don't bring the shows back, they'll suffer and Cartoon Network'll suffer right along with them...

It's cancelled, see how they didn't say Young Justice will be back for a third season? That's because they have no plans on it.

They just lawyered you. She said Young Justice isn't cancelled ...because new episodes will air for the moment, but we need space for Beware the Batman...

So take a hint.

It's actually quite condescending when you read between the lines.

They might be doing a revolving door. Teen Titans Go! and Beware The Batman for the Spring, a hodge podge of reruns over the summer of the DC shows and then maybe new GL and YJ as part of the Fall lineup. Depending on how Beware The Batman and Teen Titans fare, they may re-up GL and/or Young Justice sooner.

Honestly though, I don't have the highest of hopes for YJ. Once the toyline folded, there was blood in the water. A Toon that can't push merch isn't looked upon kindly by it's owners. Of course, it didn't help that the toyline, in terms of the figures that were "affordable" for kids vs. the more expensive and poseable collectors' versions were kind of ass.

I suspect if either show returns, we'll see something retooled toward more standalone story potential than long arcs much like the Marvel formula of late. Because, you know, kids can't possibly follow a well written storyline. Wait.... never mind.

I would prefer another season of GL & YJ over the new Batman & TT. The new TT does not sound like it will be like the old series. But more of a high jinx kind of show. Which to me is not that great. As for the new Batman it does not sound that great.

So I hope WB changes their mind and renews YJ & GL. Because those shows are great. There is not that many great shows like YJ. So I want another season for that show.

@BlackiceJoe

Your suspicions about Teen Titans Go! are correct. I don't know if you've seen any of the Teen Titans shorts during the DC Nation block, but that's essentially the new format for the series, complete with that "miniaturized" design and animation style.

The original series definitely had a comic bent, but this might possibly make it seem Nolan kinds of grim in comparison.

I guess I'll have to wait and see what happens. These people have been toying with my emotions for a while now.
Like I said before, if the future of all the Marvel and DC shows are going to be comedic takes, then I'll stick to the Animated feature films.

"Run their course" to me means that they are not going to make anymore episodes than they already have made. I think episode 26 is the last one for GLTAS, then that's it.
