Everybody get up it's time to slam now, because Warner Bros. has finally released the official poster and trailer for their upcoming live-action/animated sequel, Space Jam: A New Legacy

The plot will see current Los Angeles Lakers forward and 4x NBA Champion LeBron James (Trainwreck) partner up with Bugs Bunny and the Tune Squad, after he and his son (Cedric Joe) are trapped in a virtual space by a rogue algorithm named Al-G Rhythm (Don Cheadle).

He'll be then tasked with leading the always hilarious, albeit extremely undisciplined Looney Tunes against Al-G's digitized champions on the basketball court.

Malcolm D. Lee (Night School) is directing and Ryan Coogler (Black Panther) is producing the upcoming sequel, which will star James in the lead role, doing his best to fill the shoes of the legendary Michael Jordan, a.k.a. the greatest basketball player of all-time, who starred in the original 1996 classic.

The supporting cast will feature Academy Award-nominee Don Cheadle (Avengers: Endgame) as the main villain, Sonequa Martin-Green (Star Trek: Discovery) as James' wife, and Ceyair J. Wright (American Skin) as James' eldest son. Basketball co-stars remain a mystery for now, but the cast is rumored to feature the likes of Klay Thompson, Anthony Davis, Damian Lillard, Chris Paul, Kyle Kuzma, Diana Taurasi, Nneka Ogwumike and Chiney Ogwumike, amongst several other NBA and WNBA stars.

There were rumors that additional Warner Bros. characters, including Pennywise, Lord Voldemort, The Wicked Witch of the West, Agent Smith, The Mask, and The Joker, will also appear, and it looks like the trailer has confirmed some major Ready Player One-esque surprises as we see the Iron Giant, among others.

Space Jam: A New Legacy will hop into theaters and HBO Max on July 16.

Might as well call this Warner Bros: Infinity War. This looks otherworldly. And LeBron is a surprisingly good comedic actor, so I can't wait to see what he's got here.

Am i the only one that thinks it looks trash? Lol it’s only bc the original one is a classic. This one feels forced. But I’ll check it out with the kids. It would be sooo dope if Jordan showed up in this.

Curse you, evil matrix God Don Cheadle. All stealing kids and turning basketball stars into cartoons.

"There are rumors that additional Warner Bros. characters, including Pennywise, Lord Voldemort, The Wicked Witch of the West, Agent Smith, The Mask, and The Joker, will also appear, but that remains unconfirmed for now."

Didn't they already do this in Lego Batman?

It could be intertaining. But man with this, Jumanji, and Godzilla vs Kong, Hollywood has really solidified my hate for unecessary flashy technology in movies that don't need them.

The amount of cocaine at WB must be insane to have made a movie where virtual Don Cheadle kidnaps LeBron James' kid forcing him to play basketball while Pennywise and the Droogs from Clockword Orange watch on.

That being said I'm here for Ready (Basketball) Player One

looks alright but I wish they kept the animated Le Bron.

Being all flashy and colourful I think this will appeal to a new generation of kids, the way the first movie did for mine, even if it's just an alright movie.

@dirtyscore - yea I was actually liking the idea of animated Lebron, and probably would've liked to have seen him get CG'd in the same style as the Looney Tunes rather than going back to his normal self
