"You know, I spoke with some people...I had some conversations. I believe there’s still knocking on that door, but it has not opened."

"I love the movie. But, I mean, I don’t know. I’ve seen the same thing as anybody else has, really."

"Yeah, no nothing. I mean, I like motorbikes. Uh, no. I kind of want to have [a motorbike] though. But like I don’t think I ever will get one of those either."

instead of a pistol, Blade should be pointing the
main gun of an Abrahms tank at him.

@Josh I think this movie looks good with him in it. The guy is just an actor taking a pay check. I do not want to see a live action Akira period but for other roles people should give him a chance.

they sound like a pair of massive pricks.

i have my fingers crossed that this film (akira) never gets made.

i don't want them to ruin a classic.

I would really rather Keanu not play Spike in Cowboy Bebop... he's an awful choice (no offence to him. he really loves the series but... just no). I just want the film made right. Its easy to get it right, EVEN easier to get it wrong though.

got nothin against pattinson. like Dmon said he is just an actor getting a paycheck. i think all the hate is because he is now getting waaaaaaaaaaay more (cat) than any anybody else.

There's no point in doing Akira as a live action film. So much of the manga had to be reduced just to make the anime. I think it's a story that would lose a lot of its power and uniqueness if it were translated into a live-action film. Plus adapting it for white actors will always be disappointing to me. This is an iconic piece of Japanese cinema, it should certainly be handled with more care than tossing it out to the hunk dujour.

i dont know. im kind of skeptical about reeves playing spike in cowboy bebop thats one of my favorite animes. plus keanu doesnt have a fro/poofy hair.

robert pattison stay away from akira. but seriously they shouldnt even do that one as a live action movie.

Akira Will work as live action they have stated that they plan to follow the Manga to the letter which is something the Anime didn't do, they are planning 3-4 movies so I'm pretty sure that will cover the whole Manga.

I would be really annoyed to see Keanu Reeves cast as Spike. In the Anime, Spike is easy-going and chrismatic - I just don't see a wallflower like Keanu fitting in the role. Maybe he could be a villian.

@blazingkidtes- wow dude. yes we're all aware of how poor dragonball evolution was. no need to start writing incoherently. To be fair though, the dragonball series is almost impossible to adapt to the big screen. it's a long running series and fans of it(and manga in general), unlike comic fans, want a panel to panel perfect adaption which won't work. BUT... a cowboy bebop film adaption would work (its already pretty americanized to begin with). And thank goodness hollywood never listens to people like you, otherwise we wouldn't have the amazing CBM's we have now.

Who would you have star as a lazy, carefree bounty hunter with a death wish?

A lazy, careless actor with a career death wish?

Um, yeah.

Boo to both...we've seen how well we translate Anime into live action here, skeptical is an understatement

f uck yeah JoshW!! i love that pic!! ALL THESE WHITE MAN (no pun intended) INTERPRETATIONS OF ANIME'S NEED TO BE BANISHED FROM THE FACE OF THE EARTH!! i hope none of these projects get made and if they do i hope they fail miserably as they should....
tehdude
tehdude - 4/6/2011, 1:27 PM
@fullmetal- cowboy bebop's creator loved the enlgish dub of the cartoon and said it was superior to the japanese dub. There's english lettering along with japanese symbols in the cartoon... The main character's name is spike... ed's real name is Françoise(not american but not japanese either)... it's got very heavy western related themes (including all the episode names being rock and blues songs)... i think in the hands of the right writers and capable director... and good actors... hollywood could do Bebop justice.

The thought of a live action Cowboy Bebop makes me vomit with fury. I grudgingly respect Keanu's desire not to screw it up, but HE ABSOLUTELY WOULD.

I don't give a crap about Akira. A movie that actually makes sense would be a nice change.
