Per our sister site AnimeMojo.com, the official premiere date of Attack on Titan season 2 has revealed to be April 1.

The new season comes 4 years after the first ended after 25 episodes in 2013.  The reason behind the delay between season 1 and season 2 was due to the fact that Hajime Isayama's manga was still fairly new at the time of the first anime season and the  TV adaptation quickly caught up with where Isayama was in the manga.  Rather than continue on with an original story, the folks at Studio WIT opted to wait and allow the manga to create a ton of separation.

However, given the show's popularity, the manga quickly became a fan favorite and spoilers for season 2 have been floating around on the internet for quite some time.  If you were a fan of season 1, have you managed to avoid spoilers over the past 4 years or did you succumb to temptation?

ATTACK ON TITAN Season 2 Synopsis
Eren Jaeger swore to wipe out every last Titan, but in a battle for his life he wound up becoming the thing he hates most. With his new powers, he fights for humanity’s freedom facing the monsters that threaten his home. After a bittersweet victory against the Female Titan, Eren finds no time to rest—a horde of Titans is approaching Wall Rose and the battle for humanity continues!

@infire - oh it's at the top of my watchlist, trust me.

I just haven't been in much of an anime or movie mood recently, addicted to muh vidyagames.

As with many incredible manga, or anime, Shingeki started absurdly good, but because of instant fame, it is clear that Isayama himself didn't know where he was going anymore. He probably wanted, or was asked, to make it drag, and drag, to sell more volumes. After the arc we're going to see at the beginning of season 2, there were entire volumes where nothing of interest happened. I really hope the anime version is going to cut all that out to make it snappy and riveting, as it should be, for everyone who hasn't read the manga.

@Asturgis - The creators already said they'll be taking some things in different directions. Part of the reason there was such a long break between seasons has to do with the animators feeling that the manga hadn't given them enough usable material to form a full season.

@MrDandy - I'm not surprised. In terms of animation and direction, Shingeki was incredible and I'm really excited about season 2. When I started the manga, it was like reading Monster or 20th Century Boys. Impossible to put it down. I kept reading, and reading, but after the next arc we're going to see, which is really, really good, there is such a huge drop in quality and interest even I had trouble continuing the series. A little bit like LOST, maybe. Isayama said he knew exactly where he was going but it's painfully obvious that after Volume 13 it goes from peerless manga to just good. IMO.

@Asturgis - yeah I've heard that nothing happens for a looong time.

@ALostCause - Yeah, there are multiple volumes regarding political and religious intrigue, with a few hints and bits here and there about that basement in Eren's house. It got everyone theorizing about it, and what secrets might be there, but you can tell, you can just tell, that not even the author knows. He's just making it drag until he finds something good, and/or makes more money, which I find a bit sad.

Of course, even though I'm not the only one who thinks this way, I could be wrong, and maybe he knows exactly where he's going, in which case his writing has just lost quality. When you know how and how much a famous mangaka works, Isayama probably hasn't tank a day off, shaved or seen the sun in 5 years. So there is that :)

I love your avatar by the way, and I often like the quality of your posts and find myself agreeing with you quite a bit.

It's topically relevant and a discussion I really enjoy reading opinions about but if we ever got a Hollywood movie do we think it would be better to cast a fully Asian cast or pay respect to the original material?
