We've known for a while now that Corey Stoll (The Many Saints of Newark) was set to reprise the role of Darren Cross for Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, but we doubt anyone would have guessed exactly how he'll be brought back.
It was generally assumed that Cross would return as Yellowjacket to seek revenge against Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) for banishing him to the Quantum Realm at the end of the first movie, but insider Daniel Richtman is claiming that Stoll will actually play M.O.D.O.K.!
This is just a rumor for now, of course, but it would make a certain amount of sense. While the notion of Cross being somehow transformed into the megalomaniacal villain might seem far-fetched, it would explain why we haven't seen the character in so many years, and M.O.D.O.K. has been strongly rumored to make his MCU debut in the threequel (we had heard that Jim Carrey might be in line to play the bizarre-looking baddie).
This is obviously a pretty major rumor, so we can probably expect the trades to weigh in fairly soon if there's any truth to it.
Peyton Reed will step back behind the camera for Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope van Dyne's (Evangeline Lilly) next adventure, which will feature the return of Jonathan Majors as the villainous Kang the Conqueror and the debut of Kathryn Newton as Cassie Lang.
Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer are set to return as Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne. "Wombats" Luis (Michael Peña) and Kurt (David Dastmalchian) will also be back as Scott Lang's (Paul Rudd) sidekicks, but T.I. (Dave) is believed to have been dropped from the movie amid multiple allegations of sexual assault against him and his wife.
Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is set to hit theaters on July 28, 2023.
