That's a wrap on Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania!

Director Peyton Reed took to Twitter to announce that principal photography on the Marvel Studios is now complete, and share some artwork from Mark James Hiblin featuring the titular heroes. We're not sure if this is official promo/concept art for the movie, but it's pretty cool-looking image either way!

The first two Ant-Man movies were fun, but mostly uneventful entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, Quantumania is shaping up to be a far more momentous adventure altogether with the (re)introduction of a villain who could well go on to replace Thanos as the franchise's next big bad.

Reed will step back behind the camera for Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope van Dyne's (Evangeline Lilly) next adventure, which will feature the return of Jonathan Majors as the villainous Kang the Conqueror and the debut of Kathryn Newton as Cassie Lang.

Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer are set to return as Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne. "Wombats" Luis (Michael Peña) and Kurt (David Dastmalchian) will also be back as Scott Lang's (Paul Rudd) sidekicks, but T.I. (Dave) is believed to have been dropped from the movie amid multiple allegations of sexual assault against him and his wife.

Lilly recently hinted that Corey Stoll is also set to return in some capacity as Yellowjacket.

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is set to hit theaters on July 28, 2023.

Hopefully its better than the second movie. That one makes me think the first film only worked so well because of all the work edgar wright did over the years

@dracula - yeah. Pretty much everything people liked about the first one is from Edgar Wright.

Apart from Luis' storytelling scenes which were introduced by Peyton Reed and Writers Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari.

@JohnPain - I doubt it. It's such an Edgar Wright scene that the onlyway I can see Reed coming up with it is if he was trying to be like wright.

You're wrong:

“The other things that we really brought to it, when we started working with Michael Peña, if Scott’s going to make this decision to turn back to a life of crime and comes in and says ‘tell me about that tip,’ I love the idea of we created these ‘tip montages'”.

“That was something that never existed in the original drafts”, Reed confirmed, “and I wanted to bring to it. And the production writers at the time, Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari, had been working with Paul, so they wrote those tip montages, which we then reprise at the end to tee up how the movie ends.”

Thus, some of the most off-the-wall humour in the film came from Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari’s drafts, under the stewardship of Peyton Reed and Paul Rudd. While these knowing cutaway gags initially seem like pure Edgar Wright, they actually came into the script a long time after his departure.

@JohnPain - as I said before, if he did, he was trying to be like Wright.

The question here is if Ant Man is giant in this artwork or if Wasp is tiny…

Great art, looking forward to this movie. AM&TW was alright, I think it just had the pressure of following up infinity war

@thelastson18 - she has wings genius. She's tiny.

@thelastson18 - I also think that the movie was purposely made so that it was light-hearted and a palate cleanser after Infinity War. So, that might have led to restrictions on how much was possible to do in that film. Now that the sequel isn't following a giant movie like Infinity War, hopefully it will be its own thing.

Hopefully this more Ant-Man And The Wasp and not like the sequel which was more like Wasp And The Ant-Man.

Also if Kang is in it I want to see Blue face Kang.

There's really no reason for me to be excited for this one except for Kang, especially after the second movie. At least I hope they give Wasp a better looking outfit.

Spock0Clock
Spock0Clock - 11/23/2021, 2:16 PM
@blitzkreg - They are. The first is a very charming small-scale superhero movie (almost kind of early-2000's feeling) and the second one is very kinetic with a lot of fun set-pieces, but it is a little too neat and disposable. Both entirely worth watching, in my opinion.
