Adam McKay Confirms That He'll Return For ANT-MAN AND THE WASP

We already know that Peyton Reed is returning to take the helm of Ant-Man and The Wasp, but Adam McKay (The Big Short) had now confirmed that he'll be involved with the sequel's screenplay...

Anchorman writer and director Adam McKay played a major role in rewriting Edgar Wright's screenplay for Ant-Man, and the filmmaker has now confirmed that he'll be back for Ant-Man and The Wasp. He's previously stated that he was unsure about a return, but McKay is now going to be teaming up with Paul Rudd once again (he's currently working on the screenplay with Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari).

"We’ve been talking to Marvel actually," McKay told Nerdist in a recent interview. "We just talked to them the other day, and it looks like I will be involved [in Ant-Man and the Wasp]. I don’t know if it’s gonna be right from page one. But it looks like I will definitely be involved. There you go. There’s a little headline for the fanboys!"

This is fantastic news, and with McKay's latest movie The Big Short an Oscar favourite, managing to get the filmmaker back is a big win for Marvel. Whether or not he'll end up directing something for them remains to be seen though. Ant-Man and The Wasp is set to be released on July 6th, 2018, but we'll next see Ant-Man in Captain America: Civil War

But isn't it fairly general consensus that Ant-Man was terrible?

@nibs - No. Not at all.

@nibs - Um, according to what?

Good reviews and GREAT viewer responses. Look at basically every website around

@PietroMaximoff - Weird. I understand how people were duped into thinking GotG was a good movie, but not this one. Shitty.

@AsgardianHobo - Well I did actually see the movie with my own eyes and, if you haven't seen it, I can confirm for you that it was awful.
When it first came out even die-hard Marvelites like Wilding put out reviews saying how it had flaws, not a great sign.
And people on this site praise box office haul like that actually speaks to quality, and if I recall, Ant-Man had the smallest MCU gross after The Incredible Hulk.
But again, go see the movie. It blows.

@nibs - So, when you said "general consensus", you meant your opinion. Thought so

@AsgardianHobo - How did you miss the "not great reviews from hardcore Marvel fans" and "small box office"?
Or is that your way of showing me where the literacy levels are for Marvel fans?

@nibs - Sorry princess but Both Guardians and Ant-Man are liked by a huge majority. It must piss you off to have that fact smashed into your face:

@nibs - The reviews from Marvel fans were "not great"? Go read em again! I guess a 4/5 stars from a user means "not great".

and you are shitting on Worldwide:$519,250,779 for a completely unknown property that nobody ever heard of?

I can read just fine, but your flawed logic is the point here.

General consensus......lol

@nibs - So once again, your opinion.

Saying everyone agrees with you and refusing to see reality is sad

@nibs - You "general consensus" argument relies on a Josh Wilding review. We get that you don't like the movie, but saying most people didn't like it is...........idiotic

@AsgardianHobo - Yeah agreed, was gonna say that's not a general consensus of the film (and people saying it has flaws doesn't mean they think it's a terrible film either).

Methinks someone is projecting! And with GOTG opinion.
nibs
nibs - 2/16/2016, 12:50 PM
@AsgardianHobo - Half a billion is not a success for Marvel and you know it, which is why you say "...for an unknown property".

And it's difficult to continue a conversation with a guy that will defend a company that he doesn't work for. Sorry.
nibs
nibs - 2/16/2016, 12:59 PM
@FistOfFiori - Hang on, the movie DOES suck. So does GotG. You can debate it all you want, but you won't change my opinion. Those movies are for idiots.

Ant-Man wasn't as well received as any other Marvel movie, so I was shocked that they would get the same writer to come back. Terrible was my word and I should have used it, but, to re-phrase, "why re-hire McKay when I didn't think the general consensus on the first one was overly favorable?"
nibs
nibs - 2/16/2016, 12:59 PM
@FistOfFiori - Also, look up the word "projecting"
AsgardianHobo
AsgardianHobo - 2/16/2016, 1:09 PM
@nibs - This all sprang from your original point (that you abandoned)

"But isn't it fairly general consensus that Ant-Man was terrible?"

Well, the general consensus here, considering everyone posting, is that you are an idiot. How's that settle?

You hate something and are pissed that others love it. We get it.
nibs
nibs - 2/16/2016, 2:06 PM
@AsgardianHobo - Haha yes, it is settled. You eat corporate shill 3 meals a day.

I was shocked that they would re-hire the writer that wrote this shit movie. I thought/assumed that other people realized it was shit, so I say, "didn't everyone agree that this movie sucked?"
Other guy says no, and you ask why I would think that. I then went on to tell you why I would think that:

1) Weak BO
2) Weak(er) reviews than other MCU
3) I saw it, and it definitely sucked

I'm not arguing what the general consensus is, I accept your answer that people generally thought it was good. Please learn how to read.

I guess I'm just really, really disappointed at how many idiots there are. Especially ones that are willing to defend mediocre corporate ventures that have nothing to do with them.
