ANT-MAN AND THE WASP Star Hannah John-Kamen Discusses Her Role As The Villainous Ghost

With the release of Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War fast approaching, Ant-Man and the Wasp has, apart from its first trailer, largely flown under the radar - but while at the premiere for Ready Player One, Hannah John-Kame, who will be portraying the villain Ghost, briefly spoke about her upcoming role.

“I always say a character from a comic book is a character from a comic book, and as an actor, you're lifting it off the page. You're the one who's creating and giving it life," the Marvel star told Entertainment Tonight, when asked how it feels to play a gender-swapped character. Kamen then capped off this topic by expressing her desire to see more female characters: “Badass, kickass women, let's keep seeing some more."

Finally, the actress discussed the reaction to her character so far: “The reaction has been excitement and anticipation and that's exactly how I feel. I'm like, 'Right, let's see this, let's do this'."

Though she’s is not the first female villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, John-Kamen will be starring in the first MCU film to have a female hero (The Wasp) headlining a movie. Then there is Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel film which is coming next year, and is the MCU's first female solo film.

So,it sounds like the star’s desire to see more strong female characters may be coming to fruition.

From the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes Ant-Man and The Wasp, a new chapter featuring heroes with the astonishing ability to shrink. In the aftermath of Captain America: Civil War, Scott Lang grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a super hero and a father. As he struggles to rebalance his life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he’s confronted by Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym with an urgent new mission. Scott must once again put on the suit and learn to fight alongside the Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from the past.

Ghost is a chick....I need to keep up with castings lol. In any case Marvel has been doing a fairly good job recently with their villains starting the beginning of last year (I know not everyone loved Ego and Hela, but they were still charismatic and entertaining to watch). Even side villains like Grandmaster, Tinkerer, Shocker, Surtur, Klaw and others have been pretty good. Hope this girl can continue the trend after Thanos. (I have high Hope's for the Mad Titan)

@MrCamw1 - I agree! I really liked Ego and the more I've watched Ragnarok the more I like Hela. Vulture was great, as was Kilmonger! Klaw was also extremely entertaining in both AoU and BP! Here's hoping Thanos lives up to my expectations!

Sweet, looking forward to her version of Ghost. Loved the horror vibe we got from the few glimpses in the trailer.

Is it not super obvious that there’s gonna be a bait and switch and she’s either going to be or be in League with Janet Van Dyne? Doesn’t ANYONE think it’s a bit wierd that we didn’t see a single shot of either of these 2 characters in the trailer despite one of them being a major movie legend like Michael Douglas which was the main marketing push of the last movie? Not to mention Ghosts abilities in the trailer definitely look like something someone who was stuck in the quantum realm for 40 years would possess...

@Ha1frican - I predict that Janet is going to be the Ego of this movie.

That suit looks CGI. Honestly wouldn't surprise me if it was.
