Big screen’s Catwoman and Perry White will unite in the next year’s Ant-Man and the Wasp, as both Michelle Pfeiffer and Laurence Fishburne signed on to star in Peyton Reed-directed sequel. They joined the small club of actors who managed to have roles in both DC and Marvel’s cinematic universes. Laurence played Perry White in Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and now he’s ready to take a bigger role.
Fishburne will play Doctor Bill Foster, also known as Giant-Man or Goliath. In a new interview with Yahoo he described why he decided to take the part: “I’ve been watching Marvel movies for a long time and I’ve imagined and dreamt and fantasized that one day I’d be lucky enough to be in the Marvel Universe and that day has come”, the actor explained.
Before you’ll call Fishburne a traitor, you should know that he definitely loves comic-books in all forms and shapes from many different publishers: “I was mostly a Marvel guy, but I also loved the DC comics. I loved the DC universe. I bought comics from both universes. And then subsequently bought comics from other labels — Vertigo and Dark Horse”. Isn’t it great?
The actor was asked if he’s playing a hero: “I am! Actually, I’m playing a scientist. Shh. Shh”. It looks like even the mighty Morpheus is afraid of the Marvel snipers and he didn’t say a word about the role.
Ant-Man and the Wasp goes big on July 6, 2018.
