Kathyrn Newton made her MCU debut as Scott Lang's daughter, Cassie, in the recent Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, but it turns out the Freaky actress was originally up for a completely different Marvel Comics character.

A clip from a new Ant-Man 3 behind-the-scenes featurette has been shared online, and in it, director Peyton Reed reveals that Newton actually tested for the role of Kate Bishop in the Disney+ Hawkeye series.

Of course, Hailee Steinfeld ultimately played Bishop in the show, but if recent rumors are to be believed, both actresses will eventually collaborate on a Young Avengers project.

Check out the brief clip, which shows Newton screen-testing with Jeremy Renner (Clint Barton), below.

Super-Hero partners Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) return to continue their adventures as Ant-Man and the Wasp. Together, with Hope’s parents Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), and Scott’s daughter Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton), the family finds themselves exploring the Quantum Realm, interacting with strange new creatures and embarking on an adventure that will push them beyond the limits of what they thought possible.

Directed by Peyton Reed and produced by Kevin Feige and Stephen Broussard, Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania also stars Jonathan Majors as Kang, David Dastmalchian as Veb, Katy O'Brian as Jentorra, William Jackson Harper as Quaz and Bill Murray as Lord Krylar.

The MCU threequel is now available to stream on Disney+.

Honestly I feel bad for her. I think she's very talented. And she would've done really well as Kate bishop. But then she got stuck with such a poorly written character.

She should have been cast as Clint Barton and would have been if there was any justice in the world.

Steinfeld is easily the better actress, but her character in Ant-Man comes off as closer to the comic Kate in terms of personality.

Nothing against her but her character was so poorly written and annoying in Antman Quantumania.
Hopefully she gets better written roles n the future.

It's in the Assembled the making of Quantumania finally released by Disney on Disney+. And yes it looks like it was edited. Jonathan Majors is in it and his name is at one time on the screen and he gets to talk about Kang. That's basically it. They talk about the character Kang in the documentary but never about Majors. All other actors they mention by name and they also talk about how good they are: Rudd, Pfeiffer, Douglas, Lilly, Newton, Murray, Stoll and some minor actors. My only point is that based on this Majors future in mcu still looks uncertain.

@JFerguson - That's not "all scenes" with Cassie. That's all action scenes with Cassie which have been edited together to show nothing but one-liners.

There's no arguments with her Scott about getting arrested. No scene of her begging her Dad not to comply with Kang or hugging him when he goes on a potential suicide mission. No rallying speech to the inhabitants of the Quantum Realm to fight back against Kang.

She wasn't a good actress in this movie, but neither were Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfieffer, Bill Murray, etc. Even Jonathan Majors who "stole the show" was not the same level as his Loki appearance and basically a B-movie villain.

This movie was clearly rushed through production with a lot ill-prepared reshoots and every part of it show.

That's not a bad argument for using those aspects of her in the role. Too bad, ya know... THEY DIDN'T.

When I heard of the casting, even though I was against recasting the recasting I was already against (#AbbyRyderFortsonIsCassieLang), I ASSUMED there must've been a reason for it, that she was cast for the sake of having stronger comedic chops or something. But my goodness, if Disney didn't prove me wrong in the small amount of leeway I was giving this movie, in seeing what they actually gave her to do.

"Optimism"? Not much. "Funny"? Almost not at all. Even the claimed "brightness" is muted, to me.

To that, I maintain my stance:
