ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA Star Evangeline Lilly Teases "Phenomenal" Jeff Loveness Screenplay

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania star Evangeline Lilly can't say too much about the upcoming threequel, but has nothing but good things to say about what writer Jeff Loveness is bringing to the table...

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is set to bring another Kang the Conqueror Variant into the MCU, and that alone points to this threequel being a much bigger deal than its predecessors.

During a recent interview with Collider, star Evangeline Lilly admitted she couldn't say anything about the movie beyond the fact that shooting is currently taking place. The actress did, however, heap plenty of praise on Jeff Loveness' (Rick and Morty) screenplay for the movie.

"I was so stoked on the script. Jeff Loveness is our new writer for the film. And we've never worked with him before. I think he is phenomenal," Lilly said. "I think he's one of the best writers we've ever had. I think he's got an incredible mastery of voice. So on the page, I could hear all the characters, and I knew that he'd really kind of harnessed each person's unique personality."

"I just think that it's going to be really special," she continued. "I think it's going to be really good. I actually think it has the chance to be the best one we've done yet."

Lilly has also been keeping up to date with Loki (no great surprise when she'll be working alongside Kang actor Jonathan Majors), and the themes of the series clearly impressed her.

"The science geek in me loves that element of how smart they are and how they tackle such enormous topics that most kind of fluff popcorn movies are not going to tackle," the actress recalled. "They tackled chaos theory. That's really brave and really bold and really cool."

We still don't know which Kang Variant we'll meet in this movie, though Nathaniel Richards (the scientist from the 31st Century who mastered interdimensional travel) is arguably the most likely. That would give Marvel Studios the chance to explore his origin story before the Conqueror shows up.

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is set to be released on February 17, 2023.

Getting the idea that Marvel Studios sure loves to bring on Rick & Morty writers. Not that I mind though, they bring a lot of interesting stuff to the table.

That said, I hope it doesn't go as science-crazy as AMatW. That was just a little to much. Rather see them focus on the Mitchell Carson and mysterious benefactor storylines.

If it's Nathaniel Richards the only way I'll see it is if I feel like a thief one day and pirate it. I liked the actor playing Kang in the Loki series but I just don't want it to be Richards.

I didn’t know there was a new writer for this so maybe it will be good!

All jokes aside; I do love the first Ant-Man a lot. I think it’s very underrated. However, the sequel gets worse with each viewing. It’s just so mundane and generic. I would hope this film is the best one of the bunch if they’re introducing Kang here too.

Cards on the table, Kang was the Cringurer. The Cringuring. The Cringe. So hopefully his uhhh I forgot the term for a multiverse twin or whatever, hopefully that guy doesn’t make me miss Ultron. “You just saw ultron” nah, multiverse twin, kid, multiverse twin. Ohhh variant. Haha “greetings, I am Cervix, an Ovariant hailing from the Fallopian Quadrant. Please accept these eggs as a token of peace between our lunar systems”

The question is, can Peyton Reed deliver a solid film?

OT: Not seeing anything about this but venom fell 76% Friday to Friday. I’m sure they’d rather just wait for the weekend to weekend report, but it doesn’t look good. Could just be a second weekend thing, happened to Far from home or homecoming I forget, but the following weeks were a lot better. OR, it could continue having steep drops. I think that drop already prevented it from the possibility of topping Shang chi

@TheWalkingCuban - was destined to happen. October is typically a lower tier (but certainly not bottom tier) release month and the succession of Bond, Halloween, Dune, and The Eternals meant that Venom was always going to be a one-and-done. Many extremely hardcore comics friends of mine absolutely hated it, as well so word-of-mouth is going to compound that misery.

@SauronthePower - yeah Shang Chi gave all the studio’s confidence and now ironically they’re gonna cannibalize each other’s legs like piranhas. Feels like summer rather than October. I’ll watch it I just don’t know when

Rewatched the first Ant-Man last night. It rly is an underrated gem in the MCU. Too bad the sequel was such a step down.

I loved Ant Man a lot, so much heart!

The 2nd one wasn't as good, but still a damn fun watch but I feel this 3rd one is going to be GOOD! And I can't wait.

Yoinking up all the Rick and Morty writers is clearly paying dividends!

Is this one actually going to be Ant-Man And The Wasp or The Wasp And Ant-Man like the second one was.

I hope the screenplay is good. Any-man was really fun and entertaining but still mid-tier Marvel. I regularly forget Antman and the Wasp ever exists…
