TMZ has learned that Jonathan Majors (Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania; Loki; Creed III) was arrested on Saturday morning in New York City for an alleged domestic assault against a 30-year-old woman, who is believed to be the actor's girlfriend.
While Majors was released from custody earlier today, he's potentially facing charges of strangulation, assault, and harassment.
The officers responded to a 911 call this morning around 11 AM and in their official statement said, “A preliminary investigation determined that a 33-year-old male was involved in a domestic dispute with a 30-year-old female. The victim informed police she was assaulted. Officers placed the 33-year-old male into custody without incident. The victim sustained minor injuries to her head and neck and was removed to an area hospital in stable condition.”
In response to the allegations, Majors' spokesperson denied any wrongdoing, stating to Variety, “He has done nothing wrong. We look forward to clearing his name and clearing this up.”
TMZ noted that the victim had visible injuries, including a laceration behind her ear, redness, and marks to her face, and following the initial report, added further context, revealing that the couple allegedly got into an argument while sharing a taxi ride home from a bar in Brooklyn.
They continue, "police were told the girlfriend saw another woman texting Majors, and she confronted him -- trying to sneak a peek at his phone. We're told the alleged victim/GF claims this got Majors mad, and that he allegedly grabbed her hand and allegedly slapped her.
We're also told the alleged victim claims he put his hands around her neck during this."
Majors recently starred in Marvel Studios' Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and MGM's Creed III, and is expected to play a major role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe moving forward. He's already set to appear in Loki season two later this year and is expected to be the primary antagonist of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty in 2025.
It would be irresponsible to speculate on his future until further details become available, but for the time being, this is certainly a disappointing development.
