Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is set to hit theaters next week, and the Marvel Studios marketing team has been releasing a steady stream of new posters for the diminutive hero's next adventure.
This latest one-sheet puts the spotlight on the villainous Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors), who looms large over Scott Lang, Hope van Dyne and their allies.
Kang won't be the only enemy our heroes face in the movie, however, as Marvel Studios' first Phase 5 film will also feature the debut of a certain Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing.
Previous reports have indicated that this take on M.O.D.O.K. would actually be Corey Stoll's Darren Cross, aka Yellowjacket, from the first Ant-Man, which seemed to be confirmed when we got a glimpse of the character unmasked in the latest trailer.
Now, director Peyton Reed has left little doubt.
"M.O.D.O.K. has been waiting in the wings for a while," Reed said during an interview with CBR. "We hit an idea of, as we were going to bring our family into the Quantum Realm [and] in contact with Kang [the Conqueror], how could Kang know about the Ant Family? And then it occurred to me, 'What happens to Yellowjacket at the end of the first Ant-Man?'"
The social media reactions (which were a little more mixed than we expected) singled M.O.D.O.K. out as one of the highlights, so we're looking forward to seeing how the megalomaniacal villain is portrayed when Quantumania releases on the 17th.
The full review embargo lifts on Tuesday, so be sure to check back then for our verdict.
Super-Hero partners Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) return to continue their adventures as Ant-Man and the Wasp. Together, with Hope’s parents Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), and Scott’s daughter Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton), the family finds themselves exploring the Quantum Realm, interacting with strange new creatures and embarking on an adventure that will push them beyond the limits of what they thought possible.
Directed by Peyton Reed and produced by Kevin Feige and Stephen Broussard, Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania also stars Jonathan Majors as Kang, David Dastmalchian as Veb, Katy O'Brian as Jentorra, William Jackson Harper as Quaz and Bill Murray as Lord Krylar.
