New ANT-MAN & THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA Poster Released; Director Peyton Reed Confirms M.O.D.O.K.'s Identity

Yet another new poster for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has been released, while director Peyton Reed teases M.O.D.O.K.'s role and confirms the villain's identity...

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is set to hit theaters next week, and the Marvel Studios marketing team has been releasing a steady stream of new posters for the diminutive hero's next adventure.

This latest one-sheet puts the spotlight on the villainous Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors), who looms large over Scott Lang, Hope van Dyne and their allies.

Kang won't be the only enemy our heroes face in the movie, however, as Marvel Studios' first Phase 5 film will also feature the debut of a certain Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing.

Previous reports have indicated that this take on M.O.D.O.K. would actually be Corey Stoll's Darren Cross, aka Yellowjacket, from the first Ant-Man, which seemed to be confirmed when we got a glimpse of the character unmasked in the latest trailer.

Now, director Peyton Reed has left little doubt.

"M.O.D.O.K. has been waiting in the wings for a while," Reed said during an interview with CBR. "We hit an idea of, as we were going to bring our family into the Quantum Realm [and] in contact with Kang [the Conqueror], how could Kang know about the Ant Family? And then it occurred to me, 'What happens to Yellowjacket at the end of the first Ant-Man?'"

The social media reactions (which were a little more mixed than we expected) singled M.O.D.O.K. out as one of the highlights, so we're looking forward to seeing how the megalomaniacal villain is portrayed when Quantumania releases on the 17th.

The full review embargo lifts on Tuesday, so be sure to check back then for our verdict.

Super-Hero partners Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) return to continue their adventures as Ant-Man and the Wasp. Together, with Hope’s parents Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), and Scott’s daughter Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton), the family finds themselves exploring the Quantum Realm, interacting with strange new creatures and embarking on an adventure that will push them beyond the limits of what they thought possible.

Directed by Peyton Reed and produced by Kevin Feige and Stephen Broussard, Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania also stars Jonathan Majors as Kang, David Dastmalchian as Veb, Katy O'Brian as Jentorra, William Jackson Harper as Quaz and Bill Murray as Lord Krylar.

@MrDandruff - The early reactions were mixed to negative. Doesn’t bode well.

@TopBoy - If this movie doesn't redeem Marvel after Phase 4 then I don't know man. I might be switching over to DC.

Well that makes sense because how else would Kang know about Ant-Man? I mean, sure, the Quantum Realm is obviously where all the Blockbuster Videos went, but they only carry VHS and Kang was SO sure that BetaMax was going to be the superior technology so all he brought with him was a BetaMax player. And then the one time THE ONE TIME since then that he was able to escape the QR for a short period of time was in the mid-2000s when he was SO SURE that HD-DVD was going to beat Blu-Ray that he brought one of those players back with him and look at where we're at now?

And D+ isn't even an option for him because this knucklehead already went ahead and decreed no password sharing before bothering to check to see how expensive D+ is in the QR. "All-knowing master of the past, present, and future across the Multiverse" my ass! Well, at least he'll finally have someone to swap Zune songs with when he meets Peter in "A:KD".

After Marvel's miserable phase 4 and the failed DCEU, I can't wait until the day that Dark Horse and Image comics come together, to announce that the hierarchy of power in cinematic superhero film making is about to change.

@Captainhulk1 - I mean Umbrella Academy (a Dark Horse property) and Invincible (a Image property) are both 100 times better than all of Phase 4

So over on Marvel Unlimited they have been releasing a bunch of old random Nick Fury and Quasar comics. They usually do this around live action appearances. I say Secret Invasion, obviously, for Fury. Quasar I'm thinking may either be this Quaz character in AWQ or GOTG3.

Kang sure does look like a messy eater, slobber slobber, slobber.

As for MODOK I suppose they are saying his body shrunk more than his head did, it's sort of neat, horrific too if you think about it. But it ain't MODOK and it ain't Yellowjacket.

They should have had dead Stephen Hawking deep faked in as MODOK.

That would sure be a weird crowd pleaser.

You know, with the way that the MCU has a tendency to change alter egos, I have a feeling that we need to prepare ourselves for the possibility that Magneto and Doctor Doom will end up not being Max Eisenhardt/Erik Lehnsherr and Victor Von Doom, respectively.
