Over the weekend, moderators on the r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers Subreddit shared a rumour that's reportedly been verified (rather than just submitted to the website by some random user). That doesn't mean this is "official" information, of course, but it comes during a weekend that also saw multiple leaks from the set of Spider-Man: No Way Home!
Regardless, take this with a pinch of salt, but it's said that Sonic the Hedgehog star Jim Carrey has been cast as M.O.D.O.K. in "multiple" Disney+ TV shows from Marvel Studios.
The actor has had something of a resurgence in recent years, with the aforementioned video game adaptation putting Carrey back on the map in that blockbuster realm. His performance as Dr. Robotnik received widespread acclaim from fans and critics alike, and the movie was a box office hit.
While not verified, it's noted that his M.O.D.O.K. could appear in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, but it sounds like the villain will debut in the upcoming She-Hulk series. That would be a good fit for a character as weird as this one, while Carrey's facial expressions arguably make him the perfect choice to play someone who is essentially a floating head!
We'd love to see this happen, but it does sound too good to be true. Patton Oswalt recently played a stop-motion version of M.O.D.O.K. in a Hulu TV series, though we're expecting that to be cancelled after its first season due to it being a product of the Marvel Television era of storytelling.
Do you think Carrey would be a good pick for the MCU's M.O.D.O.K.?
