Bring it On is one of my all time favourite films.
and I loved Yes Man.

So yeah, he's a good choice, but still, I'm surprised they're going for straight-up comedy directors.

I agree whole hardheartedly with this. This guy is an awful choice. I kind of envy the people who like this choice.

Dude the guy is a solid choice... also you act like Ant-man is gonna be a blown sci fi film which Ant-man just shrinks and punches people and that's basically it, You forget that the Russo brothers never has that big of a budget before TWS.

I give Marvel the benefit of the doubt based on what the Russo bros did with Cap, I really hope this works out.

Edgar Wright gross (4 films) = Average: $23,677,316

Peyton Reed gross (4 films) = Average: $76,269,626

Marvel gross (worst 4 films) = $174,713,558

As someone pointed out, The Russo Brother's did Community and sure i was slightly worried about Captain America The Winter Soldier but look how that film turned out, the film turned out to be better than Iron Man or any other films in Phase 2.

So i'm giving this new director a chance. If Marvel has confidence in this director then i trust the studio's choice. Sure a part of me wishes that Edgar would come back and would communicate with Marvel Studios on how to do the film *Wright but in the end business is business and if Ant-Man turns out to be bad then it'll be the studio's loss if Ant-Man turns out to be a box office hit then it'll be Wright's loss.

Except the difference between the Russo Brothers and Reed, is that the Russo Brothers were actual fans of the property with a solid vision of the film that impressed Marvel and made them first choice picks. Reed is a sixth choice after thought, with a 'subjectively' horrible track record for films. The mere fact that there is not a line out the door of good solid directors clamoring over this film is suspect to question, and the fact that 4 directors of, again 'subjectively,' better quality than Reed turned this flick down, doesn't speak highly of it's current script.

Basically, with all the negativity surrounding the script and the scrambling act for a new director, this movie feels less like it's getting made because there's a good idea that's screen worthy and more like it's just getting made because it's simply the next thing on the schedule.

I don't want a rushed movie that turns out poor, just because it felt like it needed to be done because it was next on deck. I want a good interpretation that does justice to the character, and creates solid ground for sequels while being properly inserted into the MCU, and as of now I'm just not seeing it. I hope I'm wrong and this movie ends up crushing it, but I'm just not as optimistic as some of the commenters here.

Haha "big man" just bitching and moaning.
Most of his problems with Reed also apply to Wright.

This movie is not a big enough deal to push everything back a year. It will get done, it will be alright (probably not great), and the MCU will move on.

In my opinion I think Reed is a proverbial seat filler, and I honestly think, and hope, that in the end the higher ups (Feige, Whedon etc.) will play a behind the scenes role with helping this film along as 'ghost directors' on the project. However, anytime you get "to many cooks in the kitchen" as it were, the vision get's that much more skewed in the final product. I'd rather patiently wait for the right movie to be made here, rather than rushing this thing, but all I can hope for is that Marvel knows what they're doing.

This totally makes sense. All the action scenes are plotted out. Why the hell would you want an action director trying to change any of it. Reed is a competent director, tho I didn't see the Break-Up. They want a director to work with the actors to get the timing and delivery right, and then step aside and let the FX and stunt teams do their work and not try to Edgar Wright it.
