BOX OFFICE: ANT-MAN Becomes Ninth Marvel Studios Movie To Pass $500 Million

It's finally official; Ant-Man has grossed over half a billion dollars worldwide! Not bad for a movie about an obscure character who talks to ants, eh? Kevin Feige no doubt has a big smile on his face right about now anyway, and you can find out the latest box office details here...

Hey, remember all those people who said Ant-Man would be Marvel's first flop? Well, they've got to be feeling pretty daft right about now! After a very strong opening in China a couple of weeks back, Ant-Man has hit the $500 million mark worldwide, the fourth Disney film of 2015 to do so after Avengers: Age of Ultron, Inside Out, and Cinderella (so it's in very good company). It's also the seventh consecutive Marvel Cinematic Universe movie to reach this landmark figure and their ninth overall. With a haul of $86.4 million in China, Ant-Man has $319.5 million internationally in total and $179 million from North America. With numbers like that, it's no wonder Marvel has added Ant-Man and The Wasp to Phase 3! Did you ever expect to see Ant-Man hit half a billion?

Starring Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll, Judy Greer, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Pena, John Slattery, and Hayley Atwell, Ant-Man is set to be released digitally on November 17th and on DVD and Blu-ray on December 8th. Will you be picking up a copy? Sound off below.

@Josh Wilding. I've been tracking it on Box Office Mojo, but they've slowed their updates on Ant-Man down to once or twice a week. What source are you using?

Can't even hate if I wanted to. The film was solid enough to be an addition to the Phase 1 films.

Wrap your head around the fact that a film about ANT MAN, I love ant man but let's be real, made 500 million?!?! That's a
half a billion! Marvel could make a Howard the Duck film and pull 500 mill easy lol.

like omegadagrodd said, we have made it indeed. Though, I won't officially say it is the golden age of comic book movies until 2016 is over. Batman v superman, civil war, deadpool, and doctor strange are movies that I didn't even think would be made 3 years ago when we friggin had the Avengers.........think about it, we're the luckiest fanboys ever.

@ScarletWarlock @PsychoticSpaceRaccoon @FrozenJoy @ComicsBornAndBred @0megaDaGr0dd -

What a [frick]ing amazing time we live in right now! Us fans are getting some AMAZING pieces of comic history on the screen right now, and the amount of success they are all seeing is incredible. Been saying it since Raimi's spiderman's and will continue saying it for the foreseeable future.

SO good to be a comic fan right now. DC AND Marvel.
