BOX OFFICE: ANT-MAN Expected To Stay At #1 This Weekend Ahead Of PIXELS

Never doubt the power of Marvel Studios! Despite competition from Pixels this weekend, it appears as if the overwhelmingly negative reviews for the video game centric movie have done it no favours, and Ant-Man will stay at #1 for the second week in a row. Read on for details!

Pixels opened at #1 on Friday with $9.2 million, but the latest estimates predict that it will fail to retain that spot for the weekend. Instead, it will be Ant-Man which just manages to beat it to the top of the North America box office with $26.1 million compared to Pixel's $23.8 million.

This could change as these sorts of estimates can sometimes be off by a few million every now and again, but with such negative buzz surrounding the Adam Sandler led release, it's hard to imagine it getting a sudden increase thanks to positive word of mouth and a so/so B CinemaScore.

Ant-Man continues to do well regardless. If it does earn around $26 million this weekend, that will be a drop of only 55%, a fairly strong hold and less of a decline than both Captain America: The First Avenger and The Incredible Hulk (they fell by 60%). What did you decide to watch this weekend?
